GAME HIGHLIGHTS

A pair of shutout wins, a pair of hot Auk hitters . . . and a singular offensive showing in Hawaii highlight tonight's contests.

Kraken 5, Robots 0
Brooklyn rookie Eury Perez fires seven shutout innings, giving up just two hits and walking one.  Josh Sborz finishes up with two perfect innings, striking out three.

Sea Wolves 5, Rattlers 0
Kyle Bradish and two relievers shutout Windy City on five hits while striking out 10 Rattler hitters.  Alex Kirilloff homers and drives in three for Santa Ana.

Auk 14, Yetis 5
Lars Nootbar and Jeimer Candelario both crack a pair of home runs to pace a 15 hit attack on Everest.  Every starter collects at least one hit and eight of the nine score at least one run.

Koi 4, Brewers 3
Once Grants Pass starter Jesus Luzardo leaves the game, Koi hitters take a collective sigh of relief.  Trailing 3-1 at the time, Arizona comes back with a run in the seventh and a game tying run in the bottom of the ninth.  In the 11th, Elias Diaz completes the come from behind victory with a walk off single.

Madmen 9, Landlubbers 2
Motor City scores one in the first, two in the second and  . . . nope not three, but five in the third and coast to the easy victory from there.  Luis Garcia, the #9 hitter, leads the way with three hits and three RBI.

Bums 3, Dogs 1
Scurvy is still praying for rain...  Shohei Ohtani does his part, allowing just a single hit and run over 5.2 innings on the hump, as well as homering at the plate, but the bullpen once again lets the Dogs down.  Specifically Alex Diaz, who is all over the place.  He walks two and hits another two batters and gives up a two run single to Tristan Casas that sends Bako to the win.

Sweets 7, Miners 6
Walla Walla rides a five run sixth to the victory.  Phoenix pitching didn't do itself any favors, plunking a hitter and throwing a wild pitch in the inning, along with three singles and two doubles.

Runners 9, Rougarou 4
A close game until late, Chicago erupts for eight runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to run away with this one.  Lakeview pitching also didn't do itself any favors in the fateful inning, walking five Runners hitters.  Kyle Schwarber delivers the knock out punch with a monsterous three run homer to complete the scoring in the seventh.

Thunder 7, Argos 4
A game that produced eight home runs was entertaining from start to finish.  Tucson jumps out early, but Mother Lode rallies back and are within one into the bottom of the seventh.  A pair of Thunder(ous) doubles and a single put the game away for Tucson.

ACL's 8, Hammers 6
Another entertaining game is decided by a home runs.  This one though was a singular effort.  Ankeny catcher Ryan Jeffers clubs three home runs on the night, starting with a grand slam in the third to open the scoring and a two run shot in the ninth to salt the game away.  Huge night for the ACL catcher: 3 home runs and 7 RBI.

Too many obvious choices for me on this one.

And I couldn’t believe Jay Buhner didn’t win a Silver Slugger for Seattle.
