GIG-2019 Round 4

GIG-2019 Round 4

Congrats to Jason, currently in the GIG-2019 lead with 19 points (and the high scorer from Round 3 with 9 out of 12)!  And pecking at his heels with 18 is Jim.  Good luck to you all as we enter Round 4…

Side note: I’d love to have gone with Rod’s suggestion earlier this week and done a GIG question about the two worst qualified hitters (121 PAs) in MSB entering Round 4 (Avila and Perez), but both are on the cusp of hitting their 105% PTL perhaps before round 4 ends, which makes creating a question difficult, since one or both might get benched before the end of round 4.  Sorry, Rod!

1) Points Possible: 2
Making our way down the list of divisions, let’s highlight the Harwell, especially now that the Kraken had an untypical spell over the last 13 games, going 6-7.  Still with a healthy 7 game lead on the Rum Runners and Landlubbers, let’s ask the question a little differently than with other, tighter divisions:
Question: What will the Kraken’s lead will be at the end of Round 4 (in terms of games)?  And yes, if you believe the Kraken’s 7 game lead will vanish and they’ll be passed, you may use a negative number to predict him being behind.  2 points if you nail the number, 1 if you’re one off.  And remember, everyone plays 13 games each round.  There will be no half game leads.

2) Points Possible: undetermined
Among qualified relief pitchers (1 batter faced per team game played), you may recall we had a question about how many relievers would still be sporting a 0.00 ERA at the end of Round 2.  Let’s do something similar with relievers who are still sporting an ERA under 1.00.  There are currently 7. These questions are a bit complicated, but not “tricky,” so pay attention:
a) For 1 point: How many relievers will be under a 1.00 ERA at the end of Round 4?
b) If you answer 0, now predict the leading RP ERA.  3 points for being within 0.10, 2 points for being within 0.20, 1 point for being within 0.30.  (If you answered 1 or more for 2a, skip 2b.)
c) If you answer 1 or more, now name the pitchers you believe will still be under 1.00.  You will get 2 points for each correct answer - and you can answer as many pitchers as the number you predict.  For example, if you think 3 RP’s will be under 1.00, you can name up to 3 pitchers.  (If you answered “0” for 2a, skip 2c.)

3) Points Possible: 7
There are only 3 teams will offenses who’ve scored more than 200 runs in their first 39 games (over a 5 RPG average): The Dogs (237), the Kraken (230) and the Argonauts (204).
a) For 1 point: Which team will be leading MSB in runs scored at the end of Round 4?
b) For up to 3 points: How many runs will the leader have?  (3 points for nailing it, 2 if you’re within 5, 1 if you’re within 10).
c) For up to 3 MORE points: How many runs will YOUR team have at the end of round 4?  (Same point system as 3b)

4) Points Possible: 2
My Blues have won 8 in a row!
Question: Where will the streak end?  2 points if you nail it, 1 point if you’re 1 off.
* Helpful info: the Blues visit the Bums for one game, then host a 3-game set against the Sweets, then go on the road to Lakeview for 3.  If you still think the streak will be alive after that, I’ll let you look up the schedule! :)

5) Points Possible: 4
The Kraken’s Scooter Gennett is slugging .609!  He slugged .490 in real life.  Not *too* surprising this early in the season, but kudos nonetheless.  The only other hitter above .600 is Mike Trout (.635).
a) For 1 point: Will Scooter keep his SLG% above .609 by the end of Round 4?
b) What will his SLG% be?
3 points for nailing it within 0.02
2 points if you’re within 0.10
1 point if you’re within 0.25

Total Points Possible for Round 4: 15 plus whatever you get for #2.

@DAntone100 Don, I'm gonna give you a chance (between now and when Rod starts the games) to change your answer(s) for the #5 question.  Might want to re-read it.
