GIG-2019 Round 5

GIG-2019 Round 5

1) Points Possible: 7

The slow-starting, but traction-gaining Ann Arbor Landlubbers’ pitching staff has allowed a league-low 166 runs against them in 52 games.  However, the team with the best ERA is the ACLs, sporting the only sub-3.00 ERA among all 20 teams (2.94).  The ACLs have 167 runs against.
To aid you in answering this question, go to: Report tab, Standard… Team Totals, DMB Team pitching totals, then Generate.
1a) For 1 point:  Which MSB team will have the lowest ERA in the league after game 65?
1b) What will the league-low ERA be? (3 points for nailing it within 0.02, 2 points for within 0.05, 1 point for within 0.10)
1c) What will YOUR team ERA be after game 65?  (same point system as above)

2) Points Possible: 4
Speaking of the ACLs, they’re 40-12 and riding a 4-game winning streak!  They’ve got a 3 game lead on the Dogs (who’ve won 6 in a row, by the way) for the best record in MSB, and a 7 game lead on the 3rd-place Kraken.  Craziness.
2a) How many wins will the ACLs have after game 65? (2 points if you nail it, 1 if you’re one off)
2b) How many wins will YOUR team have after game 65? (2 if you nail it, 1 if you’re one off)

3) Points Possible: 1
Let’s have some fun with run differentials… In the department of “how the heck does that happen,” the 2nd place team behind the Kraken in the Harwell division is the 26-26 Landlubbers, sporting a positive run differential (RD) of 23.  Yet the 3rd-place Chicago Rum Runners, just 2 games back at 24-28, have a -38 RD!  That’s a 61-run gap!
Question: For 1 point, Yes or No: Will this 61-run gap WIDEN after game 65?

4) Points Possible: 2
Among the ten players with double-digit steals, Trea Turner (17 bags) and Cody Bellinger (10) are yet to be caught.  Turner plays everyday in the lead-off position.  Bellinger plays everyday against righties, and sits ⅓ of the time against lefties.  Turner snatched 43 bags and was caught 9 times in real life, while Bellinger swiped just 14 steals in real life, but was caught only once.
Questions - one point each, Yes or No:
4a) Will Turner get caught stealing this round?
4b) Will Bellinger get caught stealing this round?

5) Points Possible: 4
Home run watch:  Take a look at the HR race so far.  Some usual suspects, for sure, but the order between DMB and real life is quite unbalanced.  Keep in mind we’ve played roughly ⅓ of the season so far.  Mike Trout leads the league with 20, but only hit 36 in real life.  Mookie Betts is tied for 2nd at 16, but only hit 32 in real life.  The real life leader, Khris Davis (48) only has 14, and yes, he is playing everyday for the Rum Runners.
Questions:
5a) For 1 point: Who will be leading the league in HRs after game 65?
5b) What will the league-leading HR total be? (3 points for nailing it, 2 if you’re one off, 1 if you’re 2 off)

6) Points Possible: Undetermined
A 6th question in Round 5!
There are still FIVE qualified relievers with an ERA under 1.00!  So let’s keep going with the spirit of one of Round 4’s questions, only this time, with NEGATIVE points possible.  No more loophole!
To aid you in answering this question, go to: Report, Standard… Pitching Register, DMB pitching register, Generate.  Now set the “minimum batters faced” at 52 and hit OK.  Now double click on ERA.
Questions:
6a) For 1 point: How many pitchers will still have an ERA under 1.00 after game 65?
6b) For 2 points each: Name up to as many pitchers as the number you chose for 6a.  However, if you guess a pitcher whose ERA is no longer below 1.00, you get -1 point for each name.
6c) What will the low ERA be after game 65? (3 points for within 0.02, 2 points for within 0.05, 1 points for within 0.10.)

Total points possible for Round Five: 22, plus whatever your answer is for 6b.

Good luck!!!
