GIG-2019 Round 6

Congrats to Dan, the high scorer for Round 5 with 17 points.  And to Rod for keeping a slim lead at the top of the standings (39 total), but Matt, Jason and Dan are just ONE point behind.  Good race.

Below are the questions for Round 6.  Rod, please shoot an email to let us know when you’ll be running the next set of games.  I’ll guess everyone has at least 48 hours - through Tuesday night to get their answers in.  As always, whenever Rod starts the next set, GIG R6 will be closed.

1) Points Possible: 1
A good battle happening for best record in the league between Jason’s ACL’s (48-17) and Rod’s Dogs - as it pains me to write (46-19).
For one point (you might take a look at the schedule to aid in your answer): Which of these teams will have the better record after round 6 is completed?  (if they’re tied, all round 6 participants will get one point)

2) Points Possible: 2
Brendt’s Bums have a pretty sturdy pitching staff (3.95 ERA), and one of the reasons is their ability to entice hitters to ground into double plays.  We’ve played 65 games, and Bums pitchers have gotten 68 GDPs!  Shout out to the Madmen (64) and Rainiers (62).  Everybody else is under 60, and as low as the Robots’ 35.
Question: How many total GDPs will the Bums pitchers be credited with by the end of Round 6? (2 for nailing it, 1 if you’re one off)

3) Points Possible: 5
Sticking with pitching, there are 3 teams whose pitching staffs have amassed over 660 strike outs: The Dogs (667), the Blues (664), and the Argonauts (661).  The Miners (605) and Koi (604) are the only other teams above 600 Ks.
3a) For 2 points: Which team will be leading in K’s by the end of round 6?
3b) Bonus: What will the high K total be? (3 points if you nail it, 2 if you’re within 5, 1 if you’re within 10)

4) Points Possible: 4
The Blues Chris Sale (9-0) and the Dogs Carlos Carrasco (8-0) are the only remaining undefeated (qualifying) starting pitchers.  (Shout out to the Sweets’ Kershaw, the first to 10 wins (10-1.)  As the schedule has it, Sale and Carrasco are scheduled to face off against each other on June 17. Scurvy is the home team (Coors Field), so this should be a fun couple questions!
4a) For one point (Yes or No): Will Sale remain undefeated? (He is slated to start 3 times, against the Argonauts, Dogs, and Brewers)
4b) For one point (Yes or No): Will Carrasco remain undefeated? (He is schedule to start 3 times, against the Sweets, Blues, and Argonauts)
4c) Bonus: What will be the total runs scored (between both teams) in that June 17 matchup?  (2 if you nail it, 1 if you’re one off)

5) Points Possible: 4
Let’s pick on the offensive Kings of the K.  Poor Alex Avila would be the answer to this question if only he wasn’t already at 105% playing time.  The dude has struck out 131 times in 223 ABs!  However, don’t laugh too hard because two full time guys (the Hogs’ Aaron Judge, 104; and the Madmen’s Joey Gallo, 101) are on pace to whiff around 250 times.
5a) For one point: Who between Judge and Gallo will have more K’s by the end of Round 6?
5b) Bonus: What will the player you name in 5a’s K total be? (2 if you nail it, 1 if you’re one off)

Good luck! Total points possible in Round 6: 17
