GIG 2020 Round 6

A huge thank you to Brent for doing Round 5's questions!  And a great job, at that.  While he's tallying up the points, I thought I'd go ahead and get us onto Round 6's questions...

There are 16 games this round, due to the All-Star Break happening after game #84.  Round 6 will take us through July 14's games.

1a) The Rolla Sweets are the only MSB team still undefeated when leading after 7 innings.  Will they remain unbeaten in that category through Round 6?  One point, yes or no.
1b) Conversely, the Seattle Rainiers are the only MSB team still winless when trailing after 7.  Will they finally get a win in that situation in Round 6?  One point, yes or no.

2) In the land of the underachievers, the Landlubbers' Mallex Smith is yet to hit a dinger.  The only other qualified hitter in the entire league yet to hit one over the fence is Yolmer Sanchez of the Madmen, but Yolmer only hit 2 in real life while Mallex hit 6, so I'm gonna pick on Mallex.  Will Mallex finally touch 'em all in Round 6? One point, yes or no.

3) Immediately after the All-Star Break we're gonna witness 4 fantastic inter-division matches.  For one point each, name the winner of each 3-game set.  Call a sweep if you wish (3 points!), but you'll get nuthin' if your sweep doesn't happen, and you'll get -1 if the other team wins the series.  The July 6-8 games are:
a) Kraken @ ACLs
b) Brewers @ Blues
c) Sweets @ Miners
d) Rum Runners @ Rougarou

4) If you look at the pitching leaderboard, you might see a lot of guys hanging around 10 and 11 wins, but look closer and you'll see that so far, the Cy Young award *might* just come down to 2 pitchers if it were handed out today: the Kraken's Jack Flaherty and the Blues' Clayton Kershaw.  While the two of them are leading the league 1-and-2 in almost every significant category, they are actually tied in a category I personally tend to see as the #1 indicator on how pitchers will fair in MSB: WHIP.  Both sit at 0.86.  Which pitcher will be on top at the end of Round 6?  One point for the correct guess. Call a tie and get 2 points.  Nail the stat itself (example: 0.87) and get an extra 2 points, 1 point if you're one one-hundredth off.

5) Finally, in case you needed one more set of stats to see why the ACLs are kicking our collective arses all over the diamond, check this out.  Their team is first in hitting home runs (184), and also first in preventing them (82).  And the second place teams aren't even close (Miners, 149; Blues, 96).  Here's the question: Will the ACLs be in triple digits in HR's allowed by the end of Round 6?  Hint: They're on pace to allow 100 on the nose over the next 16 games.  One point, yes or no.  3 points for nailing the actual number of HR's allowed, 2 if you're within 1, 1 if you're within 2.

Good luck!

This is like the time Kyle predicted JD Martinez was going to have like 1043 hits or something that one GIG. I haven’t taken the time to see what kind of run Kershaw would have to go on to get down to .093 - but it would be historic.

LOL, sorry Bob. Just had to crack on you a little bit. I assume you mean 0.93 and just transposed the decimal point. Kyle - please amend his vote accordingly.

If my math is correct, Kershaw would have to be perfect for just short of his next 1000 innings (997 and change to be exact) to end up with a 0.093 WHIP

Or let me put it another way. In order for Kershaw to have a .093 WHIP given his real life 178.1 innings, he’d have to have allowed only 16.5 combined walks and hits.
