July 22-24
Game Highlights - July 22nd
~ Blues win their seventh in a row, a 7-3 win over Chicago, and with a pair of losses by Phoenix and Bako, Moonstruck is within 3 games of the Scully lead.
Game Highlights - July 23rd
~ Eight in a row for Moonstruck. Will Smith and Andrelton Simmons provide the key hits in a four run fourth. Smith laces a two run double with the bases loaded and Simmons follows up with a two run single to pin the Blues to a 4-0 lead they will not relinquish on their way to a 5-2 victory. Next up the Blues head to Bako for a three game series against the Scully leaders.
~ Rolla is streaking as well, winners of six in a row. Charlie Morton strikes out 10 in 5.2 innings and three relievers hold court after that as the Sweets complete a 2-0 shutout of Roxbury.
Game Highlights - July 24th
~ Rolla takes their seventh in a row, a 7-5 victory over division foe, New York. Manny Machado crushes two homers and drives in three and after an uncharacteristically short and ineffective stat by Hyun-Jin Ryu, the bullpen stifles New York allowing the Sweets to score the win.
~ Bako ends Moonstruck's streak, taking a slugfest of a game, 9-7. The Bums run out to a 9-4 lead and then withstand a furious Blues rally in the ninth to put another game between themselves and their hard charging division rivals.
~ A big series in the Caray gets underway as the Maniax welcome division leading Ankeny to Detroit. Game 1 goes to the home team, 8-7, but not without some late game heroics. Trailing 7-3 entering the home half of the eighth, Detroit mounts a rally that culminates in a Mike Trout grand slam to tie up the game. Then with two outs in the bottom of the ninth, David Peralta ends the game with a laser of a shot to right field, his second homer of the game.
