Game Highlights - Aug. 13th

Three shutout tonight:

~ AZ's Jose Berrios throws a complete game seven hit shutout, leading the Koi to an 8-0 victory over Roxbury.  The star offensively for the Koi is . . . everyone.  All nine starters collect at least one hit and AZ nits and picks all game long to arrive at what looks like a walk in the park type win.

~ Detroit continues it's surge behind Joe Musgrove and two relievers, who combine on a five hit shutout of Lakeview.  Fernando Tatis Jr. is the offensive hero with two doubles and a homer to go along with three RBI in the 7-0 triumph.

~ Bako's Josh James continues his personal hot stretch since being called up, completing seven, three hit shutout innings and striking out 11 Phoenix batters.  Fortunately for the Miners, Aaron Nola goes eight shutout innings to send the game into the bottom of the ninth knotted up at 0-0.  With two outs, Miner DH, Nelson Cruz doubles on the first pitch he sees and two pitches later, Charlie Blackmon crushes a two run home run to send the Miner faithful home happy.

Game Highlights - Aug. 14th

~ In Chicago, the Rum Runners roll out to an 11-3 lead before withstanding a furious Ann Arbor comeback in the late innings.  Landlubber leftfielder, Mark Canha, almost brings the Lubbers back single handedly; in the 8th he blasts his second home run of the game, a two run shot to right field, before swatting an opposite field three run job in the ninth for his third homer of the contest.  In the end, the Runner lead is too much to surmount for the Landlubbers and Chicago escapes with the 11-9 win.

Game Highlights - Aug, 15th

~ After sweeping Moonstruck in their last series, Bako is returned the favor by Phoenix.  The Miners complete the three game sweep with a 2-1 victory which pulls them within three games of the Scully leading Bums.  Sean Manaea is again very effective in his second start for Bako, but Masahiro Tanaka outduels him and a Nick Solak solo blast in the eighth inning sends Phoenix to the one run victory.

~ The top of the Caray division is also tightening up.  Detroit stays hot with an 8-4 extra inning win, and coupled with Hawaiian's 6-2 victory over Ankeny, the Maniax have clawed their way back within four games of the league leading ACL's.  Winners of nine of their last ten games, Detroit has capitalized on the 4-6 record Ankeny has posted in its last ten games to slice five games off their division deficit.

~ Brooklyn ace Jack Flaherty is not particularly effective in Motor City, giving up four earned in six innings and leaves the game trailing, but Gio Urshela's three run home run in the top of the seventh reverses Flaherty's fortunes.  After the Kraken bullpen finish off the contest, Flaherty earns his 15th victory of the season.
