GIG Round 12 (September 6 thru 18)

1) If you're wondering what's gotten into the Dogs (I am!), look no further than their Ace Gerrit Cole. His 2.79 ERA, 292 Ks and 17 wins have him in the lead or tied for it in all 3 pitcher's triple crown categories. Question: Will Cole stay in the lead (or tied) in all three categories at the end of this round? Yes or No (1 point).

2) There are two somewhat tight races happening for the rights to play in October. The first is in the Scully, which will again host both Wild Card teams, but who they'll be remains a mystery. Right now the Miners hold the WC1 position by 2 over the Dogs, and 4 over my Blues. With 24 games left, it's highly unlikely anybody catches the Bums and their 8 game lead.
Question: Pick the order of the Scully standings (sans the Bums) and get the points in parenthesis. Ties will count. Just cut and paste one of the following lines as your answer:
- Miners, Dogs, Blues (1 point)
- Miners, Blues, Dogs (3 points)
- Dogs, Miners, Blues (3 points)
- Dogs, Blues, Miners (6 points)
- Blues, Miners, Dogs (6 points)
- Blues, Dogs, Miners (6 points)

3) The Uecker is Yuckin' Ugly indeed, but the Sweets, Brewers, Argos and Honey Badgers keep seemingly reaching up at one another and dragging each other down into the dull drums of .470 winning percentage territory. Question: Which team will be on top at the end of this round (points in parenthesis):
a) Sweets (1)
b) Brewers (4)
c) Argos (5)
d) Honey Badgers (5)

4) A third interesting race is for the division lead in the Harwell. Brooklyn has a 2 game lead on Chicago. How will these two top Harwell teams look heading into the final 11 games?
Kraken still ahead (1 point)
They're tied (3 points)
Rum Runners take the lead (5 points)

5) The Dogs AND Bums are both riding 9 game winning streaks. Unbelievable.
The Dogs travel to Mother Lode, CA for two out of the gate when Round 12 starts, and then go on the road to Grants Pass for 3.
The Bums first host the Sweets for 2, then take their own trip to Mother Lode for 3.
I'll let you look up the rest of their schedules if you wish.
Here's what to do: Predict when the Bums and Dogs streaks end. If you say at 9 (streak is over), you get 1 point. Say 10, and get 2 points. 11 and get 3, and so on.
Example answer should look like this for the sake of making it easy on me for scoring purposes:
5a) Bums 11 (3)
5b) Dogs 14 (6)

Make sense? That says to me you believe the Bums streak will end at 11 (and you'd get 3 points), and you think the Dogs streak ends at 14 (and you'd get 6 points if you're right).

6) We've got FOUR great matchups coming at us for games scheduled September 8-10. All 8 teams have something to play for. The Kennesaw matchups feature all 4 playoff contenders in "series previews," while the Frick matchups highlight the Dogs and Blues against the top two teams in the Uecker hoping to get that #2 billing.
Predict the winners of the following 3-game series'. Points are weighted (in parenthesis) as usual. You must call ONE sweep only (triple the points, and if they don't sweep you get nada). If you fail to call a sweep you will lose two points off your Round 12 total score.  Keep in mind all the underdogs are at home.
a) Ankeny (1) @ Chicago (4)
b) Detroit (1) @ Brooklyn (2)
c) Moonstruck (1) @ Rolla (2)
d) Scurvy (1) @ Grants Pass (3)

Good luck!

1) No, but he’s a lock for Cy Young. Don’t make me pull out the stats like I did with Brendt earlier tonight. Trust me, he’s gonna be Cy Young and it’s not even really close.

3) Sweets (1)

5) This is a fun one! I have no idea (other than I hope the Dogs end the season on a 30 game win streak). Shot in the dark, let’s say they each win 4 more.

Dan, can you correct 5b for me? Do you mean Dogs 12 (4) or Dogs 10 (2)?
