Playoff Race Highlights

Frick Wild Card
~ The last series of the year sees Scurvy roll into Phoenix for four games, so . . . this should be fun!  In game one of the series, Scurvy's Shohei Ohtani pitches seven shutout innings and the Dogs score four in the sixth on their way to a 6-0 win.  In Mother Lode, Moonstruck carries a 5-4 lead into the bottom of the ninth before the wheels come off.  Two singles and an error load the bases for the Argo's with no outs.  The dangerous Rafael Devers steps in and promptly rockets a line drive . . . . right at second baseman Miles Straw who does little more than keep himself from being decapitated as he gloves the ball.  Mother Lode sends the red hot rookie, Carter Kieboom up to pinch hit and . . . well, Kieboom stays red hot.  He launches his third home run to walk off in grand style.

Scurvy now sits just two games behind Phoenix and a full two games in front of Moonstruck in the Frick wild card race.

Uecker Division
~ Grants Pass takes the field in the bottom of the 8th inning clinging to a 4-3 lead.  They take their turn at the plate in the top of the ninth after a Brad Miller three-run home run puts them in a 6-4 hole.  Jarred Kelenic walks and Asdrubal Cabrera singles setting the table for the top of the order to play hero.  Tommy Pham pops out for the first out and Kevin Newman flies out to deep left field for the second.  Marcus Semien is the Brewers last hope.  Semien turns on an inside fastball and rips the ball deep into the left field seats, returning the Brewers to the lead, 7-6.  The bullpen does not give up this lead and the Brewers escape with their third win in a row.  Rolla has picked a terrible time to go on a slide.  The Sweets drop their fifth in a row, a 10-2 beating at the hands of Pittsburgh.

The Brewers now hold a three game lead and their magic number drops to one.

Harwell
~ No change in the division.  Brooklyn rides more late game heroics for a comeback 4-2 victory over Ankeny.  Chicago scores early, five in the second inning, and survives for a 6-4 win.  The Kraken remain one game up on the Runners.
