Playoff Round 1 - October 5

Game 1: Scurvy Dogs at Bako Bums
Confidence was high in Bako as the Bums called on Syndergaard, who despite injury limitations owned bats to the tune of 1.29 ERA and 8 wins in his 62.2 innings all down the stretch as they made their push for the division lead. However, despite being on the road, the Dogs had to feel pretty good with Taillon and his 3.44 ERA in 22 starts going against him.

One would have expected and pitchers duel, but this is the 2021 Mutiny playoffs, so expect the unexpected.

The Dogs got to Syndergaard early, scoring 3 in the 2nd on 2 singles, a couple stolen bases, a walk and a double. It could have been even worse for the Bums but Turner was thrown trying to sneak into third on his RBI double.

However, the Bums wouldn't let that stand and battled back in the bottom half, scoring two on a Laureano RBI single and a sac fly by Astudillo leaving the Bums just down 1 even after a Syndergaard blow up.

Trying to get back on track, Syndergaard got a strikeout to start the 3rd, but Ohtani got the best of him yanking one out deep right, and despite getting the next two outs Syndergaard and the Bums exited the 3rd shell shocked by the ferocity of the Dogs batsmen.

But this is the Bums and they do not go quietly, and in the 4th Laureano (2 for 3 on the day with 1 run and 3 RBI's), jumped on Taillon fastball for a 2 run HR down the leftfield line. All tied up!

Seemingly righting the ship and well under 100 pitches, Syndergaard went back out the for the 6th. After getting the first out, Ohtani again plastered a fastball, swatting his second HR on the night to take a 1 run lead.

That lead would hold up, with the Dogs relievers Maples and Diaz again shutting out the Bums for the final 3 innings.

Unbelievably, we're on to game 7 and the #Scurbyin7 tag trends on Mutin-itter.

Scurvy win's 6-4 and the series is tied 3-3
