World Series G1

Welcome to the World Series, we have the 77-win Brewers vs the 110-win defending champs ACL's. Multiple story lines in play here, will the Brewers continue to prove that regular season records don't matter? Will the ACL's repeat as champs? Does anyone read these recaps?

Darvish vs Bieber
Brewers load the bases in the 1st, but Cabrera struck out to end the threat. However the Brew Crew did score in the 2nd on a passed ball (sign of things to come).

In the 4th the Brewers put more pressure on the ACL's - single, SB, run scoring reach via error (2b Torres), double steal to put runners in scoring position, rbi ground-out, walk = 3-0 Brewers lead.

The ACL's answered in the bottom of the frame and guess who leads the charge? Betts of course. After a Soto walk Betts singled and stole 2b. Torres accounted for his earlier error by hitting a single which scored both Soto and Betts after an error by the RF Pham. Brewers lead 3-2.

We go to the top of the 6th. Beiber plunks Cron which sent Bieber to the showers. New RP Robles can't field the Perez comebacker for another ACL error and after a Pham single and a Semien double the Brewers lead is now 5-2.

Etc, etc, etc - the Brewers keep scoring (highlighted by a Braun HR in the 9th) and the ACL's do nothing else offensively. In fact, those two hits they had in the 4th were their only hits of the game. And one of their two walks. Darvish for the night = 8 innings, 2 hits, 2 runs, 9 K's.

On top of the lack of offense, the ACL's were sloppy in the field. WP, 2 errors, HBP. Not the start the champs were hoping for.

Brewers win 8-2 and have a 1-0 lead in the series.

Tomorrow's games (most likely run later tonight) will feature Clevinger vs Paxton. Paxton really needs to deliver for the ACL's to avoid losing G1 and G2 at home.
