With Brendt having internet troubles this weekend, I don't have access to the current database. While I can't score Round 2's answers just yet, I CAN come up with questions (maybe a little less creative?) for Round 3 using the online stats links available to us. So let's get these out so we can start running games as usual this coming Tuesday morning (Brendt's internet co has promised service by Monday afternoon). You have until Monday night to answer the following questions for Round 3.
1) The Grants Pass Brewers - one of the favorites to represent the Frick in the World Series (according to the predictions thread), have started off the season 11-15. But they're 6-4 in their last ten games perhaps showing signs of turning things around.
Questions:
a) Will they be at or above .500 at the end of Round 3? (no = 1 point, yes = 2 points).
b) Predict their win total (2 points if you nail it, 1 if you're one off).
2) Stringing together several consecutive Quality Starts can be hard to come by in our league. And yet, four pitchers have been perfect so far this season. The Sweets' Ryu, the Honey Badgers' Sale, Detroit's Giolito, and Hawaii's JA Happ.
Questions:
a) Will all 4 continue to be perfect? Yes = 2 points. If you say NO, you get 1 point.
b) IF you said "NO" for 2a, name a pitcher (who failed to keep his QS streak going), and you'll get an extra 3 points. If you said "YES," just mark 2b "N/A".
3) Maniax third baseman Jose Ramirez has 12 steals in 26 games, and has yet to be caught. Ramirez looks to play about 150 games this season, which puts him on pace to swipe roughly 70 bags. He only stole 28 bases in "real life" (although we can't really say that with our 2021 database, can we?), and was caught 5 times. Dude can't keep this up, right?
Questions:
a) 1 point: Will he be caught stealing in Round 3?
b) How many total steals will he have at the end of Round 3? 2 points for nailing it, 1 if you're 1 off.
4) While the ACLs (19-7) are not the absolute juggernaut they were a year ago, they've still got the best record in the league (1 game lead over the Bums and Madmen at 18-8). And as a TEAM, they're slugging a league-leading .503!
Questions:
a) I point: Will they still have the best record in the league at the end of Round 3?
b) 1 point: Will they still be above .500 in slugging percentage as a team?
c) Predict their team slugging percentage. 3 points for nailing it, 2 if within .010, 1 if within .020.
5) Home Run Watch! Let's place some extra weight on some of the contenders... Choose the player you believe will be at the top of the HR list at the end of Round 3, and collect the points (in parentheses) if you're correct. The number next to the player is his current HR total.
Joey Gallo, Madmen, 12 (1)
Yordan Alvarez, Rougarou, 12 (1)
Teoscar Hernandez, Sweets, 11 (2)
Andrew McCutchen, Rougarou, 11 (2)
Mookie Betts, ACLs, 10 (3)
Gleyber Torres, ACLs, 10 (3)
The Field, 9 and under, (4)
