Title: GIG-2021 Round 11 (Aug 23 thru Sept 4)
Post by: Kyle on September 13, 2021, 07:57:02 PM
Rod came away with a whopping 19 points in Round 10! He (79 points) and Brian (73) may have a lock on 1st and 2nd place, as the current 3rd place number (Brendt) is 10 points behind Brian. However, there are 7 other players within 10 points of that coveted 3rd place spot. It ain't over by a long shot.

Here are Round 11's questions. Good luck!

1) The Bums' Pete Alonso has 48 jacks and leads the pack by 5 over Stanton. He is hitting home runs this season at a 10.1 per AB pace. Questions:
a) Will he still hold the lead for HRs by the end of the round? (yes = 1 point, no = 3 points)
b) Will he be below 10.0 by the end of Round 11. (yes = 3 points, no = 1 point)
c) How many HRs will Alonso have at the end of the round? (nail it = 3, within one = 1)

2) The WC race is heating up in the Scully. While the Koi have begun to fade, the Dogs are taking advantage of a very pedestrian-like performance by the Blues since the All Star Break. One game separates them now for that #2 WC spot. The Miners aren't extremely comfortable with that #1 WC spot either, only 5 games ahead of the Blues.  Questions:
a) Will the Blues keep the Dogs at bay (stay ahead) by the end of the round? (yes=1, no=2)
b) Will the Miners remain 5+ games ahead of the #2 WC team? (yes=1, no=2)
c) Will the Bums remain 5+ games ahead of the Miners? (yes=1, no=2)

3) The Harwell features the tightest race for the division title, with the Kraken nursing a 3-game lead over the Rum Runners.
Question: Guess (choose a-b-c-d-e, or f) the number of games that will separate the Kraken from the Rum Runners:
a) 4+ game lead for the Kraken = 2 points
b) 3 game lead = 1 point
c) 2 game lead = 2 points
d) 1 game lead = 3 points
e) Tied! = 4 points
f) Rum Runners take over = 5 points

4) Last round's experiment with current-record-based points for matchups was a blast (or so I was told by a couple of you). Let's do it again, as indeed, it had a great impact on points this late in the season. Again, you MUST call a sweep (triple your points, or lose them if that team doesn't sweep), and you can call as many sweeps as you wish. If you fail to call a sweep, we'll be forced to give you a -2 penalty off your overall Round 11 score.  Points awarded in parenthesis, and remember to triple them if you get that sweep.
a) Madmen (6) @ ACLs (1)
b) Honey Badgers (3) @ Blues (1)
c) Brewers (4) @ Miners (1)
d) RR (1) @ Garden Hammers (5)
e) Sweets (2) @ Dogs (1)
f) Rattlers ( 8 )) @ Maniax (1)
g) Landlubbers (4) @ Rougarou (1)
h) Arog (2) @ Koi (1)
i) Knights ( 8 ) @ Bums (1)
j) Kraken (1) @ Robots ( 8 )
(For those curious as to how I came up with the points, if a team was [current record right now] 0-4 games behind the team they're playing, I gave them 2 points for the series win.
5-9 games back = 3 points.
10-14 back = 4 points
15-19 back = 5 points
20-24 back = 6 points
25-29 back = 7 points
30+ games back = 8 points.)
