2024 Rule Changes (Official Thread)

The CO is back with a grab-bag of rules changes though I would note that there are not many rules changes this year as we believe the league continues to operate pretty well without a lot of change.  Going forward, we will be implementing the following:

1. We will be moving to adopt MLB’s new tiebreaker rules.  No more game 163 situations.  See here: https://www.mlb.com/news/mlb-playoff-tiebreaker-rules

2. All players with a status of ARB must be offered arbitration prior to the start of free agency nominations.  Currently this is not required until the start of free agency but we believe that, to the extent a player is not being extended, the league should be aware of that and be able to nominate this player in week 1 of free agency.  Effectively this just moves your decision making up by one week.

3. Fixed various typos and instances of legacy-language.

Additionally, note that minor league teams will expand again to 30 players at the start of this year’s minor league draft.  This isn’t a change as it was announced a couple years ago and is just a part of phasing in that change.
