April 19th

GAME HIGHLIGHTS

We'll highlight a trio of pitching performances, one offensive outburst, and our last undefeated tonight.

~ In Bako's home opener, Marcus Stroman teams with two relievers to shutout Phoenix on five hits.  The hurlers wiggle out of trouble a few times due to five walks, but eight judiciously timed strikeouts keep the Miners off the board.  Adolis Garcia is the offense with a two run homer in the second and a sac fly in the third and Bako wins their home opener, 3-0.

~ In Mother Lode, Chris Bassitt and two relievers shutout Grants Pass on six hits.  The three combine to strike out 10 Brewers while walking only one.  Spencer Steer homers from the #8 slot and Tyler Stephenson drives in a pair out of the nine hole to lead the Argos to the 3-0 victory.

~ In Tucson, Scurvy's Chris Sale fashions the pitching performance of the season by completing eight no-hit innings while striking out 15 Thunder hitters.  When Sale is pulled for the bottom of the ninth after throwing 120 pitches in his first start, the Thunder break up the no-no with one out but succumb to the Dogs 4-0 nonetheless.  Luis Robert gives Scurvy the breathing room they need with a three run homer in the top of the ninth.

~ Santa Ana opens their home schedule by pounding out 20 hits, including 7 doubles, a triple, and three home runs while also working 10 walks.  The offensive explosion leads to a lopsided 21-4 shellacking of Roxbury.  Fernando Tatis goes 5-6, but there are offensive fireworks throughout the lineup as the Wolves score in every inning.

~ Chicago goes on the road after a season opening three game sweep of Lakeview at home and rides Kyle Schwarber's three run blast to a 6-3 win to remain perfect on the young season.

Wow I don't think I've ever had a player ejected.  I'll go with brush back pitch instead of arguing about the strike zone...

 0-4  2 --- 31  Tucker,K walked (CBBBB)
                Crawford,K was ejected

Happens from time to time. But yeah, it’s pretty rare.
David had it happen in a playoff game with his only catcher on the roster (which lead to the mandatory 2 catcher rule)
