In a game between the Lakeview Rougarou and the Brooklyn Kraken at American Family Field on May 3, 2023, the Kraken secured a 7-5 victory over the Rougarou.

The Rougarou got off to a strong start in the 1st inning with a two-run homer by catcher Blake Sabol, scoring Marcus Semien. They continued to build their lead in the 2nd inning when Josh Jung hit a two-run homer to center, extending their lead to 4-0. However, the Kraken quickly responded in the bottom of the 2nd with a two-run homer by Jonah Heim, narrowing the gap to 4-2.

The Kraken took control in the 4th inning, scoring five runs, including a two-RBI double by Heim and a two-RBI double by Alec Thomas. This big inning gave the Kraken a 7-4 lead.

The Rougarou's Jung hit another homer in the 7th inning to cut the deficit to 7-5, but the Kraken bullpen was effective, maintaining the lead for the remainder of the game. Key performances from Heim and Thomas, as well as solid pitching by Perez, helped the Kraken secure the win.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS

Hammers @ Robots
Roxbury falls behind early, giving up two in the first.  The Robots fight back in the middle innings and eventually move out to a 6-2 lead.  The top of the eighth leads to much nail biting in the home dugout as Hawaiian rallies back.  After a triple and single to open the inning plates one run, the Hammers load the bases with two outs and the dangerous Paul Goldschmidt coming up.  Goldschmidt delivers a two run single, but an ill advised baserunning attempt gets Garrett Hampson thrown out at home for the third out.  The Robots tack on an insurance run the ninth for the 7-5 victory.

Rattlers @ ACL's
Windy City breaks out of an offensive slump with a 9-1 breeze in Ankeny.  Four homers, two by first baseman DJ LeMahieu, propel the offense.  Hunter Greene is a little shaky on the mound for Windy City, only making it one out into the fifth, but long man Michael Tonkin pitches four, one hit shutout innings to seal the win.

Sea Wolves @ Madmen
Santa Ana stakes Kyle Bradish to a 5-1 lead, but the Wolves hurler is unable to hold it, giving up four runs in the sixth to drop the team into a tie game.  The offense bails Bradish out though, scoring seven in the top of the seventh to give the visitors all the cushion they need in their eventual 12-5 win.  Nolan Jones homers twice, including a grand slam in the seventh.

1st of all, I expected my offense to carry this squad with a few bumps in the rotation and a solid bullpen.

Rum Runners host the Robots from Roxbury on April 28th, April 29th and May 1st with April 30th off for Jesus.

Shuster vs Sears with two starters having very different starts to this season as Sears has an ERA below 2.0 and Shuster above 5.0. It doesn't take long for Chicago to get on the board following a lead-off double, a walk and then a 1-out double by McCormick scores two of the five 1st inning runs. That would be enough offense for Sears who goes six innings, gives up one earned while the Chicago offense stacks on 7 more runs in a 12-2 drubbing in the opener of this series.

Another great start by Johan Oviedo as he exits after 7 innings with a 2-1 lead. A clean inning from Milner with help from Bednar takes Chicago to the bottom of the 8th where the offense gets three more runs. Bednar comes out to finish the 9th and 2nd save of the season. Another series victory, working towards a sweep in the finale and continuing the winning streak.

Chicago opens the scoring again, putting pressure on the Robots pitching staff and offense right away getting to Jack Flaherty for 5 earned in 2 2/3 IP sending him to the showers early. Braxton Garrett, the guy on the bump for Chicago turns in 7 innings, a trend this series for Chicago, allowing two earned runs. His ERA lowered to 9.22 on the season leaves the game with a victory in his sights while the Robots have different ideas. Solo runs in the 7th and 8th followed by 5 in the ninth results in a blown save by Bednar who gives up his first five earned runs of the season in one appearance. Clase for the save for Roxbury holding a 8-5 lead, single, error, single, double, single and ball game with no outs recorded.

My top 3 bullpen guys have an ERA over 6, not total, but each. This will hopefully begin to decrease as the season continues and they can get those numbers to respectable.
