GAME HIGHLIGHTS

Eight splits in this round of two game sets.  The two sweeps:

Bums @ Argos
Pablo Lopez continues to struggle for Bako, giving up five earned in five innings, while Sandy Alcantara keeps his record perfect, pitching into the seventh to run his record to 5-0 and lower his ERA to 2.87.  Mother Lode brings Bako back to the pack in the Frick with a 7-3 win and the two game sweep.

Koi @ Auk
Edouard Julien homers twice and drives in four to lead Great to the 6-3 win and the series win.  Auk pitching dances in and out of trouble all game, giving up 12 hits, but allows just three Koi runs to cross the plate.

Sweets @ Dogs
George Kirby, Aroldis Chapman and Shelby Miller combine on a five hit, 10 K shutout and Scurvy cracks out four home runs to coast to the easy 10-0 victory.

Brewers @ Thunder
Merrill Kelly and three relievers combine on a three hit, 12 K shutout of Grants Pass.  Austin Slater does all the work on offense with a two run single and an RBI groundout, accounting for all three runs in the 3-0 Tucson win.

Rougarou @ Sea Wolves
Santa Ana falls behind by three before rallying with runs in the seventh and eighth to tie the game.  Brandon Belt wins the game for the Wolves with a walk off single in the bottom of the tenth, giving the home town team the 7-6 win and tying them at the top of the KML with Brooklyn.

2024 Game Inside the Game / 2024 GIG Round 2
Last post by Kyle -
Gents, I'm very sorry for dropping the ball and completely missing a May GIG. I'm finally up in the mountains with the wife for a week of relaxation from a crazy first half of 2024.

I know' we're 10+ games away from June on the MSB schedule, but Brendt and Rod did 2 games the other day, so let's go ahead and get June's GIG up now. Deadline to answer is before June 1's games are posted - I'm guessing we might have a week between now and then. Official deadline coming soon.

GIG #2 (month of JUNE): Pick any full time hitter from YOUR team.
Honor system (but I may have to check) that you will choose a player who checks all these boxes:
- He’s slated to play at least 80% of your games in June.
- He has 450 or more real life ABs.
- He is NOT a platoon player.
These predictions are for stats accumulated ONLY in the month of June.
Each team will play 28 games this month (one day off on the 15th, and one on the 30th).

Name your player: ___________

Predict the player’s JUNE stats ONLY (not accumulative from April to June):
1) AVE (within .010 = 2 points, nail it = 5 pts)
2) OBP (within .020 = 2 points, nail it = 5 pts)
3) SLG (within .030 = 2 points, nail it = 5 pts)
4) How many Runs will he score? (within 3 = 2 points, nail it = 5 pts)
5) How many RBI will he have? (within 3 = 2 pts, nail it = 5 pts)
6) How many Strikeouts will he have? (within 3 = 2 points, nail it = 5 pts)
7) How many Doubles will he have? (within 3 = 2 pts, nail it = 5 pts)
8 ) How many HR’s will he have? (within 3 = 2 points, nail it = 5 pts)
9) How many Walks will he have? (within 3 = 2 points, nail it = 5 pts)
10) Will he have a Game-Winning RBI? (no = 2 points, yes = 5 points)

GAME HIGHLIGHTS

Landlubbers @ ACL's
Not a good day to be a starting pitcher in Ankeny. A shootout between the Landlubbers and hometown ACL's ends at 13-10, with 22 of the 23 runs scored by the end of the 4th.  Matt Boyd of Ankeny takes the brunt of the abuse, absorbing all 13 of the Landlubbers runs and the loss in his 3.2 innings of work.

Miners @ Yeti's
Everest's JP France has had a very nondescript fist month-plus of the season, but maybe his complete game, 4-hit shutout of Phoenix can be a jumping off point for him.  The Yeti's post five runs in the fifth to put the game away on the way to an 8-0 win.

Bums @ Argos
Another shootout in Mother Lode.  Bako and Mother Lode swap leads through the first six innings, but a five run bottom of the seventh is the Bums undoing. A two run rally in the ninth falls just short and Bako drops a 10-9 ballgame to the Argos.

Rougarou @ Sea Wolves
Lakeview has won five straight and 8 of their last 10 to get back to .500.  Taking a 5-0 lead into the seventh after six shutout innings from Charlie Morton, the Rougarou bullpen bends but doesn't break and ride a five out save from closer Andrew Wantz to the 5-4 victory.

Koi @ Auk
Freddy Peralta and Emilio Pagan combine for a 2-hit, no walk, 10 strikeout shutout to lead Great to the 7-0 home win.
