I have to admit that this might be the steal of free agency or the biggest bust of free agency. I have to admit that I kept thinking about bidding on Ohtani up until the very end. It's a ton of money, but I think this might be a bargain in the end.

I added him to my roster (no other changes to database that Brendt posted) and simmed the season. Results:

20 GS, 16-2 with 1.80 ERA
57 HR with 130+ runs and rbi

Ran it again to test
20 GS, 15-2 with 1.20 ERA
50 HR with 120+ runs and rbi, 17 SB - didn’t think to look for SB the first time.
(I have database saved for proof)

I don’t know what the next two years will bring, but if he comes anywhere near those numbers this year it will be the greatest season in sim history.

I expect those numbers to normalize as rosters fill out. No way does he have a 1.20 ERA over 20 starts.

However, Cole was 16-7 with a 3.62 ERA in that second sim. So it’s not like Ohtani’s numbers are ‘roster not complete’ dependent. The sim loves him for some reason.
