GIG Round 7: A Mix of Everything

This is our last regular season GIG. The next GIG will be about the post-season. And don't forget we have our pre-season predictions to add to the tally as well. Good luck to everyone!

1) We're going streaking! The Argonauts are striking gold, the Sweets are on a sugar high, and the Auk are flying south for the winter.
a) The Argos have an 8-game winning streak going! Guess when it stops. If you say "8" you'll get one point. "9" gets you 2 points, "10" gets you 3 points, and so on. You might do well to check the schedule on these...
b) The Sweets are rocking the best record in the league, and riding a 5-game winning streak.  Guess when it stops. If you say "5" you'll get one point. "6" gets you 2 points, "7" gets you 3 points, and so on.
c) The Auk have decided it's getting cold outside. A 10-game losing streak trails behind them. Guess when it stops. If you say "10," you'll get one point. "11" gets you 2 points, "12" gets you 3 points, and so on.

Both the Frick and the KML have been interesting all year long. The Frick as seen the Thunder, Bums, Brewers, and Sweets in first place at some point over the last 2 months. And the Argo's are comin' on strong! And the KML - as you know - has been a dogfight all year long. I can't say for sure, but I think 7 teams can claim they've at least been TIED for first at some point in the last 2 months.

For question 2, let's start with the Frick.

2) The Bums and Brewers have run into some trouble. The Bums are hanging onto the 4th WC spot by a hair, and the Brewers are their primary competition for it, just 2 games back. But Ahoy there!!! Who let the Dogs out?!? 8-2 in their last 10, and 5 games behind dem Bums! Meanwhile, the Sweets have a 3-game lead over the Thunder and the surging Argos, tied for 2nd, 3 games back. Here are some questions with weighted points (ties count):
a) Will the Dogs make the playoffs? Yes = 5 pts, No = 1.
b) Will the Sweets finish in 1st place? Yes = 1 pt, No = 3.
c) Will the Argos take the top spot? Yes = 4 pts, No = 1.
d) Will the Thunder take the top spot? Yes = 4 pts, No = 1.
e) Will the Bums finish in the top 4? Yes = 2 pts, No = 2.
f) Will the Brewers finish in the top 4? Yes = 3 pts, No = 1.

3) In the KML, where do we start??? EIGHT TEAMS are still very much in the mix. The Sea Wolves have opened up a small lead of 3 games over the rest of the pack, with just 4 games separating 2nd place and 8th place. I'm pretty sure we've never seen this many teams genuinely in the race this late in MSB. Great season, everyone!
a) Will Santa Ana hold onto that top spot? Yes = 1 pt, No = 3.
b) The Tubemen and Garden Hammers are battling it out for 2nd place. Which team finishes higher than the other? 2 pts.
c) The Landlubbers and Rougarou are tied for the last spot, 4 games back. Pick a scenario: Landlubbers are IN (2 pts). Rougarou are IN (2 pts). BOTH are IN (5 pts). NEITHER make it IN (5 pts).
d) Pick one of these teams currently NOT in the top 4, who you think will get IN: ACLS (3 pts), Kraken (5 pts), Rattlers (7 pts).

4) There remain 3 ZEROs in the "Expanded2" standings. And 2 of them are just nuts.
a) The 45-80 Robots are 36-0 when leading after 7 innings. Crazy! And they don't even have a "shut down" bullpen.  Will they finally lose when leading after 7? (Yes = 3 pts, No = 1.)
b) The 74-51 Argos haven't won an extra-inning game (0-5). Unreal! 5 extra-inning games is a league-low. The average extra-inning games played looks to be around 12. Will the Argos get an extra-inning game win? (Yes = 3 pts, No = 1.)
c) The 47-78 Madmen haven't won a game when trailing after 7 (0-71). Maddening! :)  Will they finally get that comeback win? (Yes = 4 pts, No = 1.)

5) Sadly, there will be no Triple Crown winner among our pitchers OR hitters this year. But let's give some love here...
a) In ERA, Tucson's Strider sits at 1.59, 0.02 ahead of Lakeview's Verlander. But Strider may not qualify. It'll be very close. Pick Strider, get 3 pts. Verlander = 2 pts. The Field (ain't gonna happen cuz Verlander will definitely qualify, and he's 0.67 ahead of 3rd place, but for those desperate for points...) = 6 pts.
b) In Strikeouts, Lakeview's Cole has a very good lead (214) over Strider (204), and Scurvy's Ohtani (203). Since Cole will no doubt finish out the year while both Strider and Ohtani hit 105% in either their next start or the one after, predict Cole's total K's. Nail it = 5 pts. Within 3 = 3 pts. Within 6 = 1 pt.
c) I'm gonna make you work for your prediction for who tops the league in Wins. Here are your weighted choices, with current wins in parenthesis: Verlander (17) = 2 pts. Mother Lode's Alcantara (16) = 2 pts. Grants Pass' Darvish (15) = 5 pts. Mother Lode's Manaea (15) = 6 pts. The Field (14 and under) = 8 pts.
d) For the batting title: Walla Walla's McNeil (.343) = 1 pt. Hawaii's Goldschmidt (.335) = 3 pts. The Field (.326 and under) = 5 pts.
e) For the RBI crown, we'll tier it in pairs: Santa Ana's Trout (103) or Ann Arbor's Riley (102) = 1 pt. The ACL's Lindor (97) or Bako's Alonso (96) = 4 pts. The Field 87 and under = 7 pts.
f) For the HR crown, Santa Ana owns the top two spots: Trout and Judge, sitting at 41 a piece. Pick one of them and get 1 pt. Pick "The Field" (36 and under) and get 5 pts.

Goodness, that's enough questions!
