Can we all agree that when we're looking for prospect rankings ESPN isn't my first choice. Or second. Or third. You get the idea.
But since they recently published their top 100 I figured what a perfect time to see how our MiL teams stack up. This only accounts for players currently in their Top 100.
This is current as of the Yetis/Argos trade.
My methodogy:
1 - Count. Simply a count of the number of players in the ranking.
2 - Count ranked. Since the Yetis have the most players (14) they get a 1. All the way down to the Bums and Sea Wolves who don't have anyone on ESPN's list!
3 - Highest. This the highest player you have ranked. Jackson Chourio is ranked #2 overall.
4 - Highest ranked. Again using Chourio for my example he scores the Dogs a 2 here.
5 - Sum. Again using Chourio for my example, I inverted the ranking order. So Chourio scores a 99 as the 2nd highest ranked player. And then this is a sum of all of those scores.
6 - Sum ranked. No surprise here, but the Yetis come out on top here just due to overall volume.
7 - Average. Using the sum from #5 divided by the count from #1.
8 - Average ranked. Even though the Yetis have big sum, they are "only" 11th in average.
9 - Total. This is the average of the rankings. The Robots come out on top overall due to good numbers across the board and the #1 overall prospect in Jackson Holliday.
Is this perfect? No. Maybe we should look into putting more weight into one ranking, this method accounts for all of them evenly. And of course I'm sure ESPN isn't our go to. But it was a fun time kill this evening.

Wow. How the mighty have fallen! Not too long ago my Bums were at the top. Now we don’t even garner a single ranking.

Interesting. I feel like the minors are down for the ACLs, but it is kind of nice to see we are more in the middle or slightly higher. We have a lot of lottery tickets, so this could work out well or not.

As far as my list, I'm not surprised at all. With the promotions I had to make recently, and giving up Cole Young and Gavin Stone in my most recent trade, I knew my squad got thin, according to the wonks and hype. I pride myself on finding future all stars in the wee late rounds of MSB, so being on the bottom has never bothered me. I mean, I'm no Jason Palmateer (*cough* Mookie *cough!), but I'm not too far behind!

Chourio was drafted 10.16 so you never know when those late round picks will pan out. Not saying he’s Mookie of course. That was insane.
The past few years I drafted almost strictly off the MLB draft results instead of gambling on AAA prospects & players who dipped a toe in MLB like I did before. None is seriously close to MLB yet, but I'll take the bronze for "might have a good pipeline!"
My roster is currently living on promise and prayer. Eight of my 22 farm hands are teenagers; two more are under drinking age. With the young core I have promoted over the last two seasons and this winter, I've been able to take more flyers on young, high ceiling gambles. I'm going to have to wait until 2026-2027 to see what the current iteration of my farm really looks like.
Looking back at the 2020 Farm System rankings in the thread right below this one was revealing. That Bako MiL roster produced Bobby Witt Jr., Jesus Luzardo, Adolis Garcia, Royce Lewis, Brandon Marsh, Jorge Mateo, Triston Casas, Shea Langeliers, Luis Garcia, Nick Madrigal, and a few other hanger-on's.
