Opening Day 2022

OPENING DAY!!!!

A full rundown to include every game today (don't get used to it...).

Ankeny vs. Hawaiian - Drew Rasmussen and two relivers combine on a five hit shutout, leading the two-time defending champion ACL's to a nail biting 1-0 win over the Hammers.  Lance Lynn throws a complete game two hitter (both hits courtesy of Austin Meadows), but a fourth inning solo homer by Meadows does him in.

Mother Lode vs. Moonstruck - The Blues ride three hit performances from Max Muncy and Marcus Semien to a 12 hit, 7-1 victory over the visiting Argos.  Zach Wheeler (120 pitches on opening day . . . really Kyle...) goes 8.2 innings giving up just four hits and one run and strikes out 14 to secure the win.

Lakeview vs. Chicago - Late inning drama is the story in Chicago.  Trailing 5-1 after seven, the Rougarou score three in the top of the eighth to close within one run.  Entering the ninth with a 5-4 lead, Rum Runner relief aces Aroldis Chapman and Paul Sewald cough up the one run advantage as Yuli Gurriel lines an RBI double to tie the score.  Dramatics follow in the bottom of the inning as Patrick Wisdom and pinch hitter Nico Hoerner single to put runners on the corners with no outs.  Pinch hitter Victor Reyes follows with a deep fly to left that stays in the yard but is deep enough to score Wisdom with the walk off run.

Phoenix vs. Rolla -  Extra innings also come down to a walk off in Rolla.  Trailing 4-3 entering the bottom of the 11th, Miguel Rojas walks with two outs.  Pinch hitter Travis d'Arnaud follows with a full count two run walk off homer, sending the Sweets faithful into celebration.

Brooklyn vs. Roxbury - Chris Flexen throws eight innings of one run ball to outduel Garett Richards and send the Robots to a 4-1 win.  Willy Adames leads the offense with a double and homer and two RBI.

Bako vs. Scurvy - Gerit Cole only completes four innings, which would usually be a good thing.  However, Bako starter Anthony DeSclafani is knocked out in the third inning after giving up six runs on 3 walks and 5 hits.  DeSclafani fails to strike out a single hitter and is sent to the showers by a Harrison Bader grand slam.

Santa Ana vs. Windy City - Santa Ana scores NINE runs in the first two innings behind a pair of three run home runs from Aaron Judge . . . game over, right?  Not according to Windy City.  Three Rattler relievers hold the Winds hitless the rest of the way and Windy City pounds out 14 hits and scores five runs in the bottom of the eighth to come all the way back and stun Santa Ana with an 11-9 home opening victory.

Ann Arbor vs. Motor City - Madmen starter Michael Pineda goes seven strong innings and Javier Baez leads off the home half of the first inning with a leadoff homer.  Bobby Dalbec homers in the sixth and the pair of infielders lead the Madmen to a 4-1 win over the Landlubbers.

Pittsburgh vs. Great Auk - Pittsburgh rides four homers from four different hitters to a 7-0 win over the Auk.  Robbie Ray pitches five shutout innings for the Badgers to start the six hit shutout.

Grants Pass vs. Arizona - Brewers leadoff hitter C.J. Cron collects four hits and a fateful four run seventh by Grants Pass does in Arizona.  GP's four runs in the seventh are largely a gift, as Koi pitching issues a walk, hits a batter and throws two wild pitches sandwiched around two singles and a sacrifice fly.  The Brewers take the handout and down the Koi 6-4.
