Sept 11-13

Series Highlights

In the KML, Santa Ana is holding their lead, and hot streaks by Ann Arbor and Brooklyn have pulled the two teams into or closer to playoff spots.

Landlubbers at Rougarou
The Landlubbers extend the Rougarou's woes, sweeping the series to move into a three way tie for second place in the conference.  A two hit, 13 K shutout by Landlubber pitching opens the series and after an extra inning affair falls to Ann Arbor in game two, Reid Detmers outduels Justin Verlander in game three with seven innings of one run, four hit ball.

ACL's at Kraken
Brooklyn drops game one at home but brushes the defeat off and wins the final two games to win the series and move within one game of the wild card.  Game two is a brilliant pitching performance by Jose Quintana who comes within one out of a complete game shutout.  Adbert Alzolay finishes off the 1-0 win with Mookie Betts standing on third base after a stolen base and throwing error put the Ankeny star within 90 feet of tying the game.

Sea Wolves at Robots
Santa Ana extends their conference lead to four games with a 2-1 series win in Roxbury.  Aaron Judge (#47) and Mike Trout (#44) both homer in a 9-4 game three Wolves win.

Garden Hammers at Madmen
Hawaiian loses ground to Santa Ana, dropping two in Motor City.  Game three is a pitching duel, won 1-0 by the Madmen on a fifth inning balk with a runner on third base.  Ouch...

Rattlers at Tubemen
Whacky loses a game in the standings as well, dropping two of three at home to Windy City.  Game three is won on a towering two run home run in the ninth from Rattlers DH Vladimir Guerrero.

No more tie atop the Frick as the Sweets sweep to move clear of the pack.

Auk at Sweets
Walla Walla takes care of business at home, winning all three games versus last place Great.  The pitching is not of any consequence, giving up an average of six runs per game to the Auk, but when your offense scores 34 runs over three games, you're going to win more than not.  Walla Walla pulls ahead of the pack, even if by a single game, at the crowded top of the Frick conference.

Bums at Miners
Bako splits the first two in Phoenix, taking the opener 7-4 before dropping a 2-1 pitching duel to Aaron Nola in game two.  Game three sees Bums deadline acquisition Jeffrey Springs take the mound, and nine innings later he's still there, completing a six hit, nine K shutout to lead the Bums to a 3-0 win.  Bako sits one game back of Walla Walla.

Thunder at Dogs
Still hanging around the fringes of the Frick race, Scurvy welcomes Tucson to town and takes two of three from the Thunder.  Scurvy sits five games out of a wild card spot, but more improbable things have happened.  Tucson sits two games back of Walla Walla.

Argos at Brewers
ML and GP are going opposite directions.  After a long hot stretch, Mother Lode has gone cold at a very inopportune time losing seven straight and dropping one game out of the playoff picture.  Grants Pass, after a cold streak, has warmed up to pull ahead of the Argos in the wild card race, winning six in a row.  Eric Lauer pitches the Brewers to the sweep with seven four hit, one run innings in game three to pace the home team's 6-1 victory.  Grants Pass sits three games back of Walla Walla in the final playoff spot.

Anglerfish at Koi
Arizona wins two of three at home against San Diego.  Rookie Bryce Elder gets the Koi off to a good start in game one, pitching into the seventh inning allowing just one run while striking out 10 to drop his ERA to 1.77 and lead Arizona to a 2-1 win.
