Game Highlights

Frick Conference

A huge series matchup starts tonight in Walla Walla as Tucson comes to town trailing the Sweets by two games.  The Thunder draw first blood with a 3 run first to jump on top, but the Sweets come right back in the second to score two of their own.  From there though, it's all Tucson.  The offense capitalizes on 9 walks from Walla Walla pitching and collects 12 hits to take the opening game of the series convincingly, 9-3.

In Bako, Pablo Lopez starts what finishes up as a two-hit shutout of Great.  Pete Alonso delivers the big blow with his 47th home run and the Bums pick up a game in the standings alongside Tucson.

In Phoenix, the Miners play a little spoiler, ending Mother Lode's winning streak at nine games.  Phoenix jumps on Drew Rasmussen early, running out to an 8-0 lead after two innings and coasts from there.  The Argos lose a game to Bako in their wild card chase.

In Arizona, Scurvy works seven walks and rips out 13 hits to overwhelm the Koi, 12-5.

In San Diego, Grants Pass scores three first inning runs and seven in the second on their way to a 13-1 pounding of the Anglerfish.

KML Conference

The big series in the KML pits Hawaiian and Whacky.  HGH rides a stellar eight innings from Paolo Espino (3 H, 1 R, 7 K's) and gets just enough offense to eek out the opening game win on the road, 2-1.  The Tubemen are going the wrong way at the wrong time, losers of seven of their last ten.  Can they get back on track over the last week?

In Santa Ana, the Sea Wolves have also stumbled slightly as they invite Brooklyn in.  The Kraken have also cooled though, and the Wolves come back for the walk off win in game one.  After blowing a 2-1 lead in the top of the ninth inning, Santa Ana loads the bases in the bottom of the inning.  A hit batsman plates the tying run and Jose Azocar follows with perhaps the biggest hit in his career, plating the winning run.

Ann Arbor hosts Windy City and jumps on the Rattlers early in an eventual 11-3 victory that raises the Landlubbers into sole possession of the third wild card spot and keeps them just three games shy of the front running Wolves.

Ankeny travels to Lakeview but drops game one, 8-5 to the Rougarou.  Lakeview keeps its hopes alive with a three run eighth inning to pull free of the ACL's.  Yermin Mercedes does the honors with a pinch hit three run bomb to give the Rougarou those eighth inning runs.

In Roxbury, the Robots score early and often as well, riding Willy Adames' two home runs and five RBI to an easy 9-1 victory.
