REALITY HAS SET IN

Bako (WBC) - After their improbable 8-0 opening day rout, reality has set in for Bako's new expansion club.  Following the opening day win, the Bums have lost five straight, being outscored 43-15 in the process.  Averaging just three runs per game is bad enough, but allowing the opposition to score an average of almost NINE runs per game is a sure recipe for failure.

The Bums are playing and working hard, but an expansion team playing with an expansion roster is realistically already starting a man (or several...) down to the established teams.  Building a brand new franchise with youth in a league of established stars is a process.

"We realized this season in particular would be a steep learning curve for our young team.  Our goals for this season are more in line with setting the proper atmosphere of high character, hard working players we want to be known for in this organization, and beginning to put in place a philosophy of professionalism that permeates all levels of our organization," commented GM Brendt Crews.

Bako did right the ship slightly with a 2-1 victory over the Koi last night.  R.A. Dickey had his knuckler dancing beuatifully, scattering five hits and allowing just one run while pitching into the seventh to earn the win.  After falling behind 1-0 in the top of the fourth, Matt Kemp evened the score for the Bums in the bottom of the inning with his fist home run of the season.  In the fifth, after speedsters Billy Hamilton, Dee Gordon and Ender Inciarte all reached base to open the inning, an unearned run on an error gave Bako the winning run.
