April 17th

HotN:
Kyle and I played 1 game H2H (we had some challenges getting connected) and it was a very interesting game. Lots of back and forth, could have went either way. Cruz hit a 2-run HR for the Dogs off Strasburg in the 1st to give the visiting team a quick 2-0 lead. But the Asterisks chipped away and if nothing else drove up Kershaw's pitch count by drawing 5 walks. So in the 7th inning with runners on the corners and having already thrown 121 pitches the Dogs went to their bullpen, A weak grounder to SS by Cozart scored one to make it 4-2 but Harris got out of the inning otherwise unscathed setting up a dramatic 9th.

In the bottom of the 9th, Murphy (traitor for jumping from the Dogs to the Asterisks in the offseason) singled to start the frame. Reynolds forced Murphy at 2nd. Headley reached on an infield single. Cain blasted one to LF - both of us thought the game was over. But Ozuna caught it with has back on the fence for the second out. That was close, but the game wasn't over yet. Cozart grounded a single between 1st and 2nd to score Reynolds making the score 4-3. Britton comes on for Alexander and promptly walks Pham on a 3-2 pitch to load the bases. Ugh uh. But Smoak grounded out to 2nd to end the game.

Lot of fun Kyle - lets do that again :)

Honorable Mention #1
ACL's only got 2 hits, but one of them was an RBI triple in the 9th by Conforto which was all they needed in their 1-0 win over the Rainiers. Tough loss for the expansion squad who got 7.1 innings of 1 hit ball from Urena but couldn't muster any offense of their own.

Honorable Mention #2
Brewers beat the devils 2-1 on a walk-off bases loaded single by Panik scoring Reyes.
