April 23

HotN:
Lets check in on the expansion teams:
Bums = 8-11, -16 run differential
Brewers = 7-12, -32
Robots = 6-13, -15
That's about what we expected. Which brings us to the Rainiers.

Winners of 5 straight heading into the game, sitting alone atop the Pacific Northwest at 11-7. No one predicted this in the preseason voting.

Anyway, even though the Rainiers lost 5-4 in 12 innings to the Koi tonight, they still hold a 1 game lead over both the Nomads and Cuttys. They tied the game in the top of the 8th on back-to-back HR by DeJong and Machado. But in the bottom of the 12th Reddick opened the frame for the Koi with a single. And from there the Koi coaching staff went small ball. Harper sac bunted to advance Reddick to 2nd. Just to make sure everyone was paying attention, Harper sac bunted in the bottom of the 12th with no one out??? Interesting strategy. Anyway, Freeman grounded out to 2b, but since he hit behind the runner it advanced Reddick to 3rd. Hedges then got a single between 3rd and SS (assuming the infield was in) for the game winner.

Harper hit his 6th HR on the year earlier in the game, but he has cooled off after his hot start and is hitting only .211 on the season.

Honorable Mention:
My inner geek likes patterns, so seeing all the teams in Western on a win streak and all the teams in the Pacific Northwest with a loss is always fun to see :)
