April 2nd - Opening Day

Opening Day is here boys and girls. Time to sit back with your favorite beverage of choice paired with a hot dog (or two) as I recap Opening Day. League file and web reports uploaded.

Assterisks, sorry Blues, beat the ACL's 6-0. When you have as many errors as hits you know it wasn't the ACL's day. Tip your cap and move onto tomorrow. Sale was flat out awesome for the Blues, pitching a complete 1 hitter. The only baserunner he allowed was a 6th inning single. Oh yeah, he also had 18 strikeouts. That's a game score of 103 folks, rarified air.

The rest of the games:

Devils beat the Rougarou 5-4 on the night's only walk-off. Iglesias with a bases loaded single for the game winner. Holt goes 4-4

Argonauts beat the Sweets 3-2. Kershaw did his thing and stymied the Argonauts through 6 before getting an early hook (87 pitch count). Enter Rodney who blew the save.

Dogs beat the Miners 6-1. Bauer pitched into the 7th in Coors, Puig with two each hits, runs scored, and stolen bases as the Dogs new leadoff hitter.

Landlubbers beat the Rattlers 6-1. deGrom pitched into the 7th, O'Hearn goes 3-5 with a HR and 3 RBI.

Cache Hogs beat the Robots 7-2. Trout goes 2-4 with a BB (making my GIG pick for OBP look good). Scherzer with a complete game.

Cutthroats beat the Rainiers 6-0. If it wasn't for Sale we'd be talking more about Keuchel tonight. Complete game shutout, 2 walks, 5 K's. Good stuff. Lester was the only really bad start on opening day - allowing 6 earned on 5 hits and 5 walks in 2.2 innings. Ouch.

Madmen beat the Rum Runners 3-2. The game featured a 59 minute rain delay and the Madmen were forced to pull Corbin after only 2 innings. But the bullpen was up to the task and allowed only 2 unearned runs, German was credited with the win.

Bums with an upset over the Koi 6-1. Dahl goes 1-2 with a HR and a pair of RBI.

Kraken beat the Brewers 4-1. Reports of team disfunction in the BrewCrew clubhouse as minutes before game time the team still didn't know who was being sent to the minors, who was going to be on the mound, etc. Brandon got a lineup submitted, but now he needs to quiet the clubhouse.
