April 8

And then there were none.

In a battle of two teams sporting perfect 3-0 records in 1 run games, it's not surprising that this one was also a 1 run game.  In the Madmen's first game away from Detroit, they were down by 1 heading into the ninth.  But the Madmen have shown a ton of heart to start the season and, after a Pollock single to left, a sacrifice bunt to advance Pollock to second, a ground out in which Pollock moved to third, Acuna came to the plate and showed his promise.  A single up the middle scored Pollock for the tie game.  Unfortunately it wasn't enough as the Devils were able to strike back in the 11th for their 4th 1-run win (4-0 too) in 7 games.

After a rough start to the season, the Rum Runners have now won 3 of 4 and are beginning to show some of the positivity that Coach Brent has instilled in the team.  Tonight's game was another step in that direction.  Aside from early-game jitters leading to an error and an unearned run in the 1st, the Rum Runners kept the Rattlers in check and were able to capitalize on a great night by Mitch Garver (4 for 5 with 2 runs and a HR).

Another team with an impressive 3-0 record in 1 run games, the Brewers have put together a winning record despite being outscored by 7 runs over their first 7 games.  Tonight the Brewers offenses finally decided to make thing easy on the pitching and jumped to a 6 run lead by the end of the 1st inning against the Cutthroats.  That was more than what was needed too as Syndergaard had the complete game shutout with 10 Ks.

This wasn't how the Robots wanted to start the season, but after six games on the road, the Robots return to Roxbury was what they needed to right the ship in a 7-6 win over the Rougarou.  Porcello wasn't great (or even that good), but he and the relievers for it done and the Robots were able to put together some hitting in the 7th and 8th innings to take their 1st win of the year.

The Sweets are another team who were confused about their slow start to the season, but after two wins in which the Sweets gave up 2 and then 1 run, the faithful are hoping that the team is ready to go on a rolla!  Merrill Kelly with the great 8 IP performance for the win.
