June 3 - 4

The Miners are feeling some heat from Coach Johnson today.  After their best start to the season in MSB history, the Miners are now 5-5 in their last 10 and watching the Blues and Dogs make a move up in the standings.  Those last 10 games also includes today's 9-0 loss to the Cache Hogs at home in which Zac Gallen went 6.1 IP with 6 K.  On the offense side, Robinson Cano reached back in time and went 4 for 5 with a double, 2 runs, and 2 RBIs.  With that win, the Cache Hogs are now over .500 and fighting for a playoff spot in the Landis.  However, the Miners did get their revenge the following night with a 6-0 win over the Hogs behind some strong pitching by David Price.

Yikes is what Coach Gill had to say after game 1 with the visiting ACLs ended 17-4.  The ACLs amassed quite a by-line with 15 hits and 9 walks and 6 home runs including 3 by the young Juan Soto.  Soto really had a spectacular night - 3 for 5 with the aforementioned 3 home runes, 7 RBIs, and stolen base.  Francisco Lindor was right behind him - 2 for 5 with 1 home run and 6 RBI. Like the Miners though, the Koi followed up with loss with a 10-7 win behind an all-around team effort. Every batter had at least 1 hit with the team hitting .342.

The Dogs win this one 6-5 over the Rougarou in a wild 10th inning.  With the score tied as the game entered the bottom of the 10th, Max Kepler came up to bat and grounded a screaming double down the third base line that Evan Longoria could not come up with.  Perhaps that double got into the head of Smyly, but who knows?  Two pitches later, he threw a wild pitch that sent Kepler to third.  Another couple pitches later and Kyle Scwarber's lined a grounder to second that was bobbled for the error and let Kepler score for the winning run.  Not the Rougarou's finest inning.
