April 25-26
Game Highlights - April 25th
~ A wild 12th inning sees Lakeview's Cody Bellinger crack a two run homer in the top of the inning to give the Rougarou a 5-3 lead before Roxbury mounts a rally in the bottom of the inning. Did the Robots rally for the walk off . . . Check it out and see!
~ Tyler Anderson pitches a gem for New York, throwing seven shutout innings, allowing just two hits, two walks and striking out nine. Joc Pederson doubles in a run in the first and Joe Panik gives some insurance with an RBI single in the fifth as the Knights take a 2-0 victory over Rolla.
Game Highlights - April 26th
~ Is newly promoted Mike Soroka part of the solution to Ankeny's early season pitching issues? At least for one game that answer is yes. Soroka takes a two hit shutout into the ninth before a leadoff triple by Detroit's Ozzie Albies followed by Tony Wolter's double cuts the ACL lead to 2-1. The sometimes erratic Felipe Vazquez comes on and nails down the victory with a clean inning in relief.
~ Bako's Zach Greinke enters the game with a 2.32 ERA; Moonstruck's Clayton Kershaw, a 2.20. Neither leave the game that way. What should have been a pitchers duel turns instead into an offensive shootout with the teams combining for 28 hits and 18 runs. The Bums take a 5-0 lead after three innings, and a 9-3 lead late before a five run 7th inning rally by the Blues brings them within a run. After Franmil Reyes' two out, team leading sixth home run gives the Bums a little breathing room, Josh Hader slams the door on Moonstruck striking out the side for his sixth save.
~ Scurvy's Gerrit Cole continues his resurgence, pitching into the ninth and allowing three hits and one run while striking out 10. Edwin Diaz shuts the door and the Dogs take a 3-1 win over Chris Sale and the Honey Badgers.
~ Chicago's Stephen Strasburg continues his strong start, completing eight innings of one run ball, striking out 10 Rattler batters. Strasburg is now 4-1 with a 2.37 ERA and 49 K's over 38 innings.
