April 28-29

Game Highlights - April 28th

~ The Blues cage the Dogs behind the Hitting Performance of the Night turned in by Moonstruck DH Justin Smoak.  In six plate appearances, Smoak walks four times and it may have behooved Scurvy pitchers to walk him all six plate appearances considering the two official at bats he accrued ended in a pair of home runs.  All told, Smoak reaches base all six appearances, hits his 3rd and 4th homers, scores four and drives in five.

~ Dallas Keuchel hurls a complete game five hitter to earn the Pitching Performance of the Night and right the Pittsburgh ship after a short losing streak.  The Badgers dispatch Mother Lode 8-1 to regain sole possession of first place in the Uecker.

Game Highlights - April 29th

~ Before there are two outs in the top of the first, Rum Runner starter Brad Peacock has given up a walk and four hits, three of those back-to-back-to-back homers, and put Chicago in an early 4-0 hole.  From there however, Peacock and the Runners bullpen throws 8 2/3 innings allowing just two more hits and two walks while striking out 11 Landlubbers hitters.  The Rum Runners offense digs out of the hole with two in the first and four more in the second and Chicago ends up with an 8-4 victory.

~ Phoenix' Jose Quintana earns todays Pitching Performance of the Night with a complete game three hit shutout of the surprising front running Bums.  The only trouble Quintana faced was in the sixth inning when he walked the first to batters of the inning, but a harmless flyout and a double play grounder later he was out of the jam.  Sitting at just .500 currently, the Miners run differential suggests they have been the recipients of bad luck early on so a run toward the top of the division could be just around the corner.
