Extra Inning affairs in Rolla, Motor City and Grants Pass...
~ In Rolla, Scurvy wastes a strong eight inning start from ace Gerrit Cole when closer Edwin Diaz is unable to hold a two run lead in the ninth. It takes 13 innings, but Scurvy second baseman Luis Arraez collects his fourth hit, driving in the eventual winning run with a two out single. Yasiel Puig follows with a two run homer for some insurance and the Dogs salvage the win, 8-5.
~ In Motor City, the ACL's and Madmen go into the 10th knotted up at 5-5. Michael Conforto gives the ACL's the lead with a two run homer in the top of the inning, but back to back walks to open the bottom of the frame followed by back to back doubles from Buster Posey and Anthony Santander send the Madmen to an 8-7 walk off win over Ankeny.
~ In Grants Pass, the Brewers take a 5-1 lead into the 8th inning . . . and then the wheels fall off. Held to one run on seven hits by Noah Syndergaard, Phoenix proceeds to score nine runs on ten hits over the last three innings, including a five run 10th, to shock GP and take a 10-5 win.
(Anxious for tomorrow . . . the Uecker could look very, very interesting heading into the end of the cycle...)
