April 9-10

April 9th

~ Roxbury scores a 6-4 win over Santa Ana to move to a perfect 5-0 on the young season.  The offense has been the catalyst behind the hot start with Brett Phillips leading the league with a .714 average, Willy Adames and Eduardo Escobar leading the league with 8 RBI each, and Eric Hosmer (.476) and Ke'Bryan Hayes (.429) also starting off hot at the plate.  Not to be outdone, the pitching staff has allowed just 8 earned runs over the first five games.

~ A slow start to the season with the bat did not hinder Shohei Ohtani on the mound in his first start of the season.  Ohtani completed seven shutout innings, allowing just 2 hits and a walk while striking out 10 Moonstruck hitters.  The offense arrived a little late, but a seven run 8th inning put the game out of reach as the Dogs take an 11-0 win.

~ Allowing 10 hits and 2 walks in 6.2 innings would usually spell disaster for a pitcher.  However, Pittsburgh's Chris Sale continually dances in and out of trouble, allowing only a single earned run despite all the base runners and the Badgers hold their spot atop the Frick Conference with a 4-1 record.

April 10th

~ The last undefeated goes down.  After Avisail Garcia knocks a two run homer in the top of the ninth to bring the Robots even at two runs apiece, Santa Ana's Brandon Belt provides the walk off single in the bottom of the inning and the Winds pull out the 3-2 win.
