April 21-22

April 21st

Shutouts are once again the theme of the day:
~ Ankeny blows out Motor City, 9-0, behind Drew Rasmussen and two relievers.  Juan Soto continues his hot start with his sixth home run and 3 RBI to lead the offense.

~ The battle for Arizona features a great pitching duel between Moonstruck's Zack Wheeler and Arizona's Chris Bassitt, who both throw complete games.  While Wheeler K's 11 Koi hitters, Bassitt holds the Blues scoreless on four hits and the Koi take round one of the intrastate battle, 1-0.  Tyler Naquin provides the only run with an 8th inning solo homer.

~ Walker Buehler completes his own four hit, seven K shutout, leading Lakeview over Brooklyn 3-0.  Yordan Alvarez and Nate Lowe homer in support of their ace.

~ Even with all the shutouts, it's Scurvy's Gerrit Cole who takes home the Pitching Performance of the Day.  The Dogs ace pitches into the eighth, allowing just one run on one hit and striking out a season high 12 batters.  Shohei Ohtani cracks a grand slam as part of the Dogs six run fourth inning and Scurvy breaks out of their six game skid with a resounding 11-2 thumping of Pittsburgh.

April 22nd

~ Brooklyn turns the tables on Lakeview tonight, shutting out the Rougarou by the same 3-0 score from last nights game.  Alec Mills and two relievers hold the Rougarou to three hits and strike out 9 Lakeview batters.

~ In typical fashion for him, Jacob deGrom pitches seven one hit, shutout innings, striking out 11, but gets no run support.  Scoreless into the 11th the Argos and Auk go, before Mother Lode's bullpen implodes.  A leadoff single followed by an error, walk and wild pitch produce the first run of the game.  James McCann supplies some insurance with a two run single and the Great Auk accept a 3-0 win from Mother Lode.
