April 25-26

April 25th

~ Ankeny weathers a three run rally in the bottom of the 9th from Roxbury to escape with a 6-5 win.

~ Scurvy came out of the gates slowly again this year, but they have run off five straight wins in convincing fashion (outscoring opponents 38-11) to rise quickly in the standings.  After a 1st inning run gives them the lead, the Dogs explode in the 2nd for six more to effectively put away the Auk.  Albert Pujols provides the exclamation point with a three run homer.

~ Bako jumps all over Chris Sale, hammering four homers and claiming an 8-0 lead after three innings.  They cruise from there, pitching to contact and take a 9-4 win over Pittsburgh.  Franmil Reyes has been on a tear to open the season and he collects three hits, including his 5th home run, and three RBI to pace the offense.

April 26th

~ Scurvy's Gerrit Cole pitches another brilliant game, allowing just three hits and striking out 13 Auk batters in 7.2 shutout innings.  A Shohei Ohtani two run triple in the 8th gives the Dogs a 3-0 lead . . . and then things fall apart for the Dogs bullpen in the 9th.  Edwin Diaz walks the leadoff man and then plunks the next two hitters to load the bases.  Joe Panik collects an RBI the easy way by working another walk and the Auk have the bases loaded with one out.  Thankfully for Scurvy faithful, Tanner Scott comes out of the bullpen and induces an easy fly ball and a routine grounder to second to end the threat and secure the Dogs SIXTH STRAIGHT win.
