April 30-May 1

April 30th

~ A big early season matchup starts in Phoenix today.  The Miners welcome long time rival Scurvy to town.  Phoenix sends Steven Matz to the hill to oppose Shohei Ohtani and Matz matches zeros with the Dogs star through seven innings.  The two teams go into extras scoreless, until Miner pinch hitter Salvador Perez homers in the bottom of the tenth to start the Phoenix celebration.  The win ties Phoenix and Scurvy with 14-11 records.

~ Windy City's Vladimir Guerrero continues tearing the cover off the ball, going 4-5 with a double, his 10th home run, and three RBI.  The Rattlers receive plenty of offense throughout the lineup as they overcome an early 5-0 deficit to down Brooklyn, 15-7.

May 1st

~ Turnabout is fair play in Phoenix as Gerrit Cole matches up against Freddy Peralta and the two lock up in another pitchers duel.  Once again, Shohei Ohtani is in the middle of things, today exacting a little bit of revenge for his tough loss yesterday with a run scoring double in the sixth.  The single Scurvy run is all that is scored in the Dogs 1-0 victory.  The teams head to the rubber match which will see Scurvy's Frankie Montas (2-2, 3.67 ERA) oppose Phoenix' Aaron Nola (4-0, 1.19 ERA).

~ Bo Bichette of Arizona homers twice and drives in five runs, and the Koi hold off a furious late six run rally from the Bums to escape with a 9-7 victory.

Pretty crazy pitcher's duels between Phoenix and Scurvy.  Looking forward to seeing how the rubber game works out!
