Game Highlights
~ The Miners score their SEVENTH WIN in a row behind Adam Wainwright's seven strong innings and home runs from Brendan Rodgers and Matt Chapman. Phoenix takes game two of the series, 6-2.
~ Moonstruck is sitting comfortable with Clayton Kershaw cruising on the mound and a 5-1 lead after six innings. Newly promoted Austin Adams comes out of the pen after a one out double chases Kershaw in the seventh, but his first outing of the season does not go as planned. Adams fails to record an out and battles wildness with a four pitch walk and two hit batsmen. When he does find the zone, Robbie Grossman lines a two run double into the left center gap. When all is said and done, the Landlubbers have scored six runs in the inning and finish off the Blues 8-5 to tie the series.
~ Windy City takes a 5-2 lead into the ninth in Scurvy before they snatch defeat from the mouth of victory. Down to their last out after a ground out and strikeout open the home half of the ninth, the Dogs mount a rally. Luis Arraez singles, Yermin Mercedes walks and Corey Seager smacks a game tying three run homer off Rattler closer Craig Kimbrel. Will Smith comes out of the bullpen to relieve and the Dogs counter questionably by pinch hitting Dauton Varsho for Jared Walsh and his nine home runs. The gamble pays off however as Varsho parks a game winning, walk off homer of his own. All heck breaks loose as Scurvy fans (all six of them) go crazy and storm the field.
~ Bako scores early courtesy of a Nolan Arenado three run homer in the first and then puts the game away with six runs over the last three innings to end the Winds win streak. Bums starter Pablo Lopez, promoted to replace the ineffective Zack Greinke, finishes six effective innings to secure his first win of the season as Bako evens up the showdown with the KML leading Santa Ana.
