Game Highlights
~ EIGHT WINS in a row for Phoenix. The Miners complete their second straight series sweep with Wade Miley and Dillon Tate combining for a three hit shutout and Matt Chapman homering and driving on four. Phoenix stays hot with a 7-0 win.
~ Moonstruck cruises into the eighth inning with a 9-0 lead behind a timely offense (9 runs on 10 hits) and Alex Cobb's continued brilliance (7-0, 1.81 ERA on the year). Then an audible gasp sweeps the crowd as Austin Adams comes out of the pen. Through the palpable hush that descends on the stadium, whispered prayers and burning of incense can be heard and smelled. Adams escapes giving up just a single run tonight and the Moonstruck faithful let out a collective sigh of relief as the 9-1 win ends.
~ Kyle Hendricks and Carlos Rodon match up in a duel in Scurvy. Hendricks gives up just one run in eight innings of work while Rodon cruses into the ninth with a shutout. Then Vladimir Guerrero steps to the plate with a runner on...
~ The Bums take an early 2-0 lead on a first inning two run homer from Pete Alonso. Then the home bats go quiet while the visiting Winds bats play a rousing rendition of 'How you Like Me Now?' for the rest of the game. Santa Ana imposes their will as they've done throughout the first third of the season, winning in a route, 13-2 and taking the series two games to one over the Frick leading Bums.
~ A couple of walk off's in Arizona and Rolla send the hometown fans partying into the streets.
