Game Highlights

~  Going into the final games of the three GiG highlighted series', all were possible sweeps going into today.  At the end of the night two of the three end up as sweeps.  The one that doesn't is probably the most surprising, as Hawaiian ends Phoenix' ten game winning streak.

In the Ann Arbor/Mother Lode series, the Landlubbers enter the eighth with a 3-1 lead looking to complete their sweep.  Mother Lode however, scores three in the bottom of the eighth to take the lead.  Unfortunately for the Argos, Ann Arbor shortstop Brandon Crawford homers to lead off the top of the ninth and send the game into extras.  Mark Canha then leads off the top of the tenth with a solo shot of his own to provide the winning run and finally complete the Landlubber sweep.

In Bako, Bums starter Marcus Stroman allows just one hit over seven innings and Nolan Arenado homers and drives in three runs and the Bums complete their sweep of Windy City with a 6-2 victory.

Shutouts rule this evenings games:

~ In Arizona, Jose Berrios pitches shutout ball into the fifth before a rain delay sends the teams to the clubhouses.  Trevor Richards relieves after the 49 minute delay and throws 3.1 shutout innings.  In a quirky move, Rich Hill comes out of the pen in the ninth and earns the save in the Koi's 3-0 win over Ankeny.

~ Moonstruck's Alek Manoah completes his own shutout, befuddling Motor City hitters all night long in the Blues 2-0 win.

~ Chicago's Luis Castillo also completes his own game, shutting out Great on five hits while K-ing nine Auk batters to run his record to 7-2 and lower his ERA to 2.44.

~ In the aforementioned Hawaiian/Phoenix tilt, the Hammers John Means needs just 97 pitches to complete a five hit, nine K shutout and lead HGH to a 4-0 victory.

~ Corbin Burnes and Luke Jackson of Santa Ana combine to shutout Grants Pass, 11-0, giving up just two hits and striking out 10 Brewers.  Burnes' strong seven innings wins him his seventh game and lowers his ERA to 2.29.

~ Lakeview's Wily Peralta deserves a mention as well, as he enters the ninth with his own one hit shutout before giving up a double and single to lose the shutout.  Garrett Whitlock relieves Peralta to record the final out in the Rougarou's 7-1 win.
