June 5-6

Game Highlights

June 5th

~ A strong start to Hawaiian's season continues as Marco Gonzales pitches eight highly effective innings and the offense supports his effort with a six run forth inning.  The 7-3 win keeps the Hammers squarely in the playoff hunt in the KML.

~ I could be misremembering, but it seems Ann Arbor has done this a couple times this season: Falling behind 8-1 in the seventh inning, the Landlubber offense finally gets on track and scores two in the seventh and then six in the eighth to complete a seven run comeback.  The comeback negates Manny Machado's big three homer night at the plate for Rolla.

~ Talk about efficient: the Argos rap nine hits, work three walks, and have two batters hit . . .  and manage to score 12 runs.  Mother Lode needs every one of those twelve to down Motor City in a 12-8 slugfest.

June 6th

A trio of shutouts highlight today:

~ Phoenix shutouts Brooklyn 6-0 in Brooklyn.  Wade Miley works in and out of trouble all night, giving up nine hits and walking two in his seven innings, but he manages to keep the Kraken off the board.

~ Hawaiian shutsout Rolla by an identical 6-0 score at home.  Ranger Suarez works into the sixth but misses out on the win despite lowering his ERA to 2.02 as the Garden Hammers offense doesn't plate a run until the seventh.

~ After a rough start to the season that saw his ERA over 7.00, Windy City's Kyle Hendricks follows his previous eight inning, one run start last turn with a complete game, five hit shutout tonight.  Vladimir Guerrero homers and drives in two.

Dang, and the bases were loaded when the inning ended.
I do have 3 wins when trailing in the 7th however, Sweets might be the story with 5 losses when leading in the 7th.
