Aug 10-14

This completes the GIG cycle. I'll highlight a game from each night for the recap...

Aug 10:
The Madmen might have officially ended the ACL's reign with an 8-0 shutout of the 2-time defending champs. Keller and Zimmer combine on the 5 hitter. But the story is the ACL's (after the games on the 14th) are 7 games under .500 and are 10 games out of the final wild card spot in the KML. They aren't out of it, but the Ankeny squad has to start winning games rapidly if they want to defend their titles.

Aug 11:
Brewers beat up on their brother Bums with a 6-0 win (and add a 3-0 shutout the following night). Combined the Bums have only 4 hits in the 2 games. But the Bums still have a healthy lead in the FF so I hear the their only concern is some good nature ribbing the next time the family gets together.

Aug 12:
Dogs win the series vs the Argos 5-1 behind Cole's complete game 2-hitter. Cole improves to 16-4 on the season but more importantly the Dogs have an 8 game lead over the Argos for the final wild card in the FF.

Aug 13:
Argos answer with a 14-6 win in 12 innings over the Anglerfish. Yup, you heard that right. The Argos scored 8 in the top of the 12th aided by 4 walks, an error, and 3-run HR by Lowe.

Aug 14:
Auk beat the Miners 3-0 in 12 innings. This one was scoreless until Sheets leadoff the top of the 12th with a HR. Turns out that was all the runs the Auk would need, but they tagged on a couple more for good measure. The Miners only had 5 hits in this one and have lost 6 in a row.
