Aug. 17-19

Series Highlights

~ Phoenix has somehow angered the baseball gods.  After dropping two of three to the eliminated Grants Pass, the Miners have dropped nine of their last ten.  The Miners are too good a team to have this continue . . . right?

~ Moonstruck visits in-state rival Arizona, and the Koi assert their claim on the state at least for these three days with a sweep of the Blues.  All three games are close, with the Koi walking off game three courtesy of Tyler Naquin's game winning RBI single, but the  Moonstruck offense is unable to get on track and totals just 21 hits over the three games.

~ Another upset in Roxbury sees the home team dismantle playoff hopeful Hawaiian with 7-1 . . . 7-4 . . . and 9-1 victories.  The Robots offense collects 35 hits for a .340 average over the three games and while the team did connect on six homers, it was a lot of passing the baton and moving guys around the bases with base hits.

~ Scurvy welcomes San Diego to town . . . and then treats them rather rudely.  Gerrit Cole pitches a brilliant seven innings in the middle game to win his 17th game of the season (tying Scherzer, Buehler, and Nola for the league lead . . . there's got to be a GiG question in there somewhere...), and then the Dogs finish off the sweep with a 7-3 win in game three.

~ Santa Ana sweeps Motor City and runs their current win streak to EIGHT GAMES.  Max Scherzer remains undefeated on the season, pitching seven strong innings in game one to run his record to 17-0 and lower his ERA to 1.62.  If you haven't taken a look at the pitching leader board . . . well, Mad Max leads in virtually every category imaginable.  Take a look.  It's truly a historically dominant season.
