Aug 26-28

As we close out this cycle I thought we'd highlight how the probable teams in the playoff race faired.

Frick:
The Koi took 2-3 from the Bums. Game 1 was the highlight as the Koi took a 9-5 lead into the 9th, but the Bums scored 5 to take a 10-9 lead highlighted by a 2-run HR by Posey to take the lead. But the Koi tied it on a Naquin double who scored on a Stanton single. The next batter Bichette hit a walk-off 2 run HR for the 12-10 win.

The Blues took 2-3 from the Anglerfish. But since it's the Boos let's just move on with the highlights.

The Dogs took 2-3 from the Miners. This series featured some great SP! Rodon in G1 for the Dogs (7.2 innings, 2 hits, 1 walk, 0 runs, 9 K's) for the 4-1 win. Nola in G3 for the Miners (CGSO, 3 hits, 2 walks, 9 K's) for the 4-0 win.

Technically the Argos are still in this, but their chances are starting to slip away as they now trail the Dogs by 11 games.

KML:
Winds sweep the Hammers. They win G1 on an Albies walkoff HR in the 10th in the 5-4 win and get another walkoff HR in G2, this time the pinch-hit variety by Joe.

Landlubbers take 2-3 from the Robots. Canha with a HR in the top of the 10th in G1 for the 3-2 game winner. The Robots avoided the sweep in G3 with a 1-0 win. Astudillo with a HR in the 3rd was the only scoring.

Rum Runners take 2-3 from the ACL's and push the 2-time defending champs further in a hole. The fat lady isn't signing yet, but it's getting close. Luis Castillo pitches 7 solid innings in G3, must be celebrating his new contract with the Mariners :)

Hammers - see above. But they still have a 1 game lead over the Rattlers for the final playoff spot. Speaking of the Rattlers...

Rattlers take 2-3 from the Kraken who have all but locked up the #1 draft pick next year. Lyles improved to 6-14 (with a 7.72 ERA) after his CG in G3. He's struggled on the season, but looked good in this one only allowing 4 hits and 1 walk in the 6-1 win. In fact he was only a couple outs away from a CGSO, but Yelich ended that in the top of the 9th with his 10th HR on the season.

ACL's are 8 games back, while the Rougarou and Robots are 10 games back.
