Sept. 21-23

Series Highlights

Frick Conference

~ Phoenix sweeps Mother Lode at home while Scurvy drops two of three in Arizona to the Koi.  Leading into their showdown in Scurvy to close out the season, the Miners hold a one game lead over the Dogs for home field advantage in their imminent first round playoff matchup.

KML Conference

The race has become even tighter!

~ The Rougarou welcome the defending champions to Lakeview, and promptly sweep the ACL's right back out of town.  The three game swing draws the hard charging Rougarou into a tie with Ankeny, two games out of the final wild card slot.

~ Hawaiian rolls into Chicago sitting one game back of the Rum Runners for the final wild card.  The Hammers take two of three from the home town team, drawing even with the Runners.  The teams sit tied for the final wild card spot in the KML.

~ Windy City drops two of three in Ann Arbor, but their game three victory moves them one game ahead of the Runners and Hammers in the wild card race.

Hawaiian hosts Santa Ana - The Hammers will definitely have to earn their ticket to the playoffs.
Windy City visits Brooklyn - Do the Kraken have some spoiler in them, or will the Rattlers take care of business to secure their spot?

2 notes from this set I noticed:

1) Rich Hill. Wow...
He allows a walk, single, HBP, and then a sac fly to start the game. And then allowed exactly zero baserunners the rest of the way before getting pulled in the top of the 9th in the Koi's 6-1 win over my Dogs. Guess he didn't get enough warmup pitches?

2) Is it too late to get Luis Gil some Cy Young votes? He's ridiculous.
After another 6.2 innings with 1 hit allowed and no runs he improved to 5-0 in Sept.
His total stats?
5 starts, 5 wins.
30.2 innings, 13 hits, 11 walks, 0.78 WHIP
0.29 ERA (yes, that starts with a 0), .370 OPS against, 11.7 K/9
