Breaking News: Asterisks Find Another Bat

Two things are clear for the Arizona Asterisks, they don't take weekends off and second place just doesn't sit well.  This Saturday evening the Asterisks came to agreement with the Barbuda Bulldogs marking the second significant and third trade of the early season.  Sources within the Asterisks Organization confirm Carlos Santana (2017/7.5M) will be trading the humidity of Barbuda for the dry air of the Tuscon desert.  For the Asterisks the move was necessitated by the struggles of veteran Mike Napoli and the hope is that Santana's dynamic bat will help them catch the surging Scurvy Dogs.

For the the rebuilding Barbuda Bulldogs, who have very publicly stated they are in fire-sale mode, the move was clearly about the future with the acquisition of the Asterisks 2nd Round pick in the upcoming 2017 Minor League Draft.  Along with the draft pick, the Bulldogs receive Cole Hamels (2017/9.9M) who is expected to be added to the growing list of fire-sale trade fodder.

Asterisks acquire: Carlos Santana (2017/7.5M)
Bulldogs acquire: Asterisks 2nd Round pick, Cole Hamels (2017/9.9M)

Yeah, buddy!  I hated giving up that 2nd rounder, but even in a year where I needed to get creative to be competitive, I've still got 8 picks in the first 8 rounds.  Needed Santana to place the .148hitting, no-power Napoli on our El Paso squad.

The Bulldogs confirm and are pleased to send Carlos to a contender. Just a sign that anyone and everyone with a 2017 expiration date should keep their bags packed.
