Mother Lode Front Office

We can only imagine the warm glow in the Mother Lode front office as they watch Elly De La Cruz emerge from his chrysalis and spread his wings in Cincinnati. Another Reds freshman infielder who is garnering flesh-and-blood all-star votes is Matt McLain. The same Matt McLain who, along with De La Cruz, appears on the Argonaut prospect roster. But is there trouble on the horizon in Mother Lode? Who among their already impressive stable of infielders will sit to make room for the new stars? All-star Rafael Devers? All-star Tim Anderson? All-star Jazz Chisholm? All-star Andres Gimenez? Will there be discord in the dugout? Meanwhile, fantasy owners everywhere contemplate a race to the bottom hoping to obtain rights to De La Cruz while the Argonaut stockholders wallow in their riches and smile knowingly.

I particularly enjoyed watching De La Cruz K twice against Kershaw yesterday.

He's not the first cowboy to do that. Nor will he be the last.

Who wants to break the news to Matt that De La Cruz has a higher WAR after 3 games in the bigs than both Chisholm and Anderson combined? :)

But seriously, Elly reminds me of a young Vlad Sr., but a bit looser and more wiry. He'll put on some "good" weight in the next couple years, but that kid looks studly.
