I know I'm running up against the 24 hour window for declaring two or three year contract, but I would beg a little indulgence if I could. After my question yesterday about retiring players, I'm still contemplating what to do with Mauer.

The 24-hour window has always had soft borders in the past. It's basically there so that the FA forum can be less cluttered as the signings close. In years past, some owners have contacted the CO 48-72 hours later with their declarations. I'm sure it's no big deal if you take a little extra time.
