Kind of a strange trade.
Argonauts trade Matt Olson $7.25 million (2025) and Joe Musgrove $5.8 million (2026) and their 10th round 2025 pick to the Great Auk for the Auk's 9th round pick. The Mother Lode will be transferring all salary cap expenses for year 2025 to the Auk.
Olson on paper is heck of a lot better than he has been producing for the Argonauts. Musgrove even with the projected injury settlement will be $2.9 in dead salary in 2026. Auk giving up roster resources next year for a better chance to pull off a playoff run this year. Mother Lode is looking dangerous for 2026 and now has a bit more cap room.
Auk will waive Candleario and Hanifee to get their roster back down to 40
