Title: Update to Historical Franchise Stats (2025 data)
Post by: tigersfancj on November 09, 2025, 05:12:05 PM
My sons soccer finally ended so I had a weekend to update the historical stats application
https://fantasystats.shinyapps.io/Mutiny_Stats/

The main update is that the 2025 stats are now included.

However, I've been working on some major updates and 1 of them was ready for prime time (I hope).

The "Batters" -> "Franchise Stats"
This full page was rewritten. The new table can scroll from left to right and be filtered a little better (debatable). I'll update the tables on other pages to match this one eventually.
The major addition though is the Story Generator under the franchise stats table.
here you can see where your current players ranked all time when the season started ("Rank in selected years")
and then you can see where they rank now after the season ended ("Rank with this year added")
And then see how many positions they have moved up, or down, in the ranking this year ('Difference')
There is an option to exclude players that are on your team for the first time this year. Since they were effectively last in all stats their "difference" is not very meaningful.
The fun part is under the table you have your milestone watches. Any player close to top 10, 5, or 1 all time for your team is called out! (Go to the table at the top to see how many of the stat they need to get to the milestone).

** I made this reactive to the 'Selected Years' but in the end I realized it has little value for anything other than 'All'. I might remove that, but, if you were interested in your top players over, say, the last 5 years, that is probably the only reason you would change the 'Selected Years' for this table (and have it still make sense).

I am always open to suggestions for things you would like to see!!!

The milestone watch is very cool. Too bad some of these guys aren’t going to make their “milestone” when they don’t get resigned. But it’s good for them to have a goal!

Craig, this is amazing. I do have a question on one item. What does the slider under the batter categories do? When I played with it, I didn't see that anything changed.

It should be allowing you to filter but it doesn't tell you what number you are filtering to :( I may work on this ... but, if you make the table show like, 100 players and move the slider you should see players disappear.
So if you sort by, say, AVG and then use the slider until all players under .250 are gone, you could then sort by other columns and know that all players have an average over .250.

Also, you sort a column by clicking on the column header.

Thanks Craig. A couple suggestions from when I was playing with it.

It would be nice to filter categories.  When I'm looking at my franchise hitters and pitchers, I wanted to filter so I could eliminate certain things. Then, when I'm looking at something like AVG or OPS, I could filter out players with just a few AB's that clutter up the list. Same would be true with IP. Maybe that's what the slider is supposed to do.

Second, I wanted to try to change the years to a range rather than specific years. Then I could look at the leaders for my team only for the period I controlled them. This might be helpful to newer owners looking at their leaderboard and seeing a bunch of players who they don't recognize as being on their team.

I feel bad even mentioning these. It's an awesome work. I wish I knew how to do this.

For point 1, yes, that is what the slider is supposed to do. If you sort by ABs and then move the slider until, like, every player under 100 is gone, you can then sort by AVG or OPS. But I'll try to make something different that is more clear what value the filter is set to.

For point 2,  you can control the range by selecting all the years you want to see and then remove 'all' (click it and push delete or backspace). Once all is gone it will sum all the years you pick so you could pick 2021, 2022, 2023 and see who was the best at any stat over that time.

As far as controlling when you owned the team that is what the middle pull down is. After you select your 'charter' you can pick any or all of the previous owners of that charter and only see franchise stats for that owner. For instance, because thunder has changed their name 3 times they will need to pick all three names in that pulldown to see all their stats. But if they only want to see results under the thunder name they can pick only that team.

Don't feel bad for mentioning. I don't mind hearing what is confusing or what cool ideas people have. Cleaning up the data is what took forever. If people use the tool it makes all that work worth it.

You're right. The sliders aren't working!

alright, it's fixed and it now shows you what your filter is set at. So as you move the slider the tiny number next to it tells you what the slider is set at. It'll be hard to get the exact number you want but it should be helpful.

And let me know if the year thing still doesn't make sense. It seems to be working.
For you, if you select:
Select Charter: charter C03 - Dan Maloy
Select Team: Brooklyn_Kraken-Dan_Maloy
Select Years: will allow you to pick any combination of years from 2016 to 2025 (or All)
if you want to see the entire franchise/charter, you would select the other three owners, Mark, Rob, and Joe, and then the years will go all the way back to 2006

Edit; the slider doesn't really work for AVG/OBP/SPC/OPS .... I don't have motivation to fix that now.

That explainer helps a lot.
