GAME HIGHLIGHTS

Walla Walla @ Grants Pass
Grants Pass keeps winning, extending their win streak to five games with a walk off 2-1 victory.  Pinch hitter Josh Lowe delivers the game winning single after Matt Chapman had tied the game with a sacrifice fly in the eighth.

Great @ Scurvy
A back and forth affair in Scurvy goes into extras.  A ghost runner and two walks in the top of the tenth loads the bases for the Auk.  Lars Nootbaar steps up and hammers an 0-1 pitch into the left center bleachers for a game winning grand slam, earning the visitors a 10-7 victory and a split in the series.

Everest @ Bako
Alex Cobb goes toe to toe with Gerrit Cole for six innings, both starters leaving with the game tied 1-1.  The bullpens take over and that is when things unravel for Everest.  Bako scores five off two Yeti relievers and Ryan Thompson and Devin Williams lock the game down from there for Bako.  The Bums 6-2 win puts them in a tie for first in the Frick.

Lakeview @ Hawaiian Gardens
Newly promoted Ben Lively pitches six strong innings, giving up just a single run.  The game still goes into extra innings though, where Ian Happ delivers the walk off win with an RBI single in the bottom of the 10th.

Chicago @ Brooklyn
Brooklyn walks off Chicago in extras, 6-5, taking sole possession of the top spot in the KML.  A chaotic bottom of the 10th that sees a hit batsman, a run scoring error, and a double steal culminates in Lourdes Gurriel's game winning single.

Santa Ana @ Ann Arbor
Santa Ana scores two in each of the first three innings to take a 6-0 lead.  The Landlubbers chip away in the middle innings before rallying for four runs in the 7th to snatch an 8-6 victory from the Wolves.  Kyle Farmer delivers the big blow with a game winning three run homer.

This cannot continue:

**************  Bottom of the 9th inning, Dogs batting
                Solano pinch hitting for Arraez
6-6  0 --- 22  Solano to first on an error by the shortstop Blackmon
                  (BCFFBFX)
6-6  0 1-- 00  Berti sacrifice bunted to first, Solano to second (Xb)
6-6  1 -2- 01  Seager grounded out to short (CX)
                Diaz,Yai pinch hitting for Ohtani
 6-6  2 -2- 02  Diaz,Yai grounded out to short (CFX)

vs LHP
Arraez:  .326/.343/.417 (regular season) - .289/.341/395 (sim)
Solano: .286/.346/.400 (regular season) - .125/.250/.125 (sim)

Ohtani: .245/.365/.532 (regular season ) - .125/.282/.375 (sim)
Diaz:     .214/.243/.378 (regular season) - .320/.400/.600 (sim)

Pinch hitting for Arraez makes no sense, both his regular season and sim stats far exceed Solano. At least you can make the argument that Ohtani has struggled in the sim vs LHP, but come on. No one in their right mind would make that move in the bottom of the 9th with the score tied. That's unbelievable.

I was just going to cut and paste the same segment of the game, uncanny EXCEPT I was going to point out the fact the Charlie Blackman was put in at Shortstop.   He only has a fair rating in RF.    He made an error on his first chance but then made two successful plays on fielding and throwing out the last two batters of the inning.

I have Sosa going in as a defensive sub for Albies.   So when Volpe was pinch hit for I had no other rated shortstop.

I will need to adjust for profile for the dreaded Bums.   I'll take a split on the road vs the 1st place Dogs though.

Bottom of the 8th inning, Dogs batting
                Sosa,E now playing second base
                Blackmon moved to shortstop
 6-5  0 --- 32  Velazquez,N grounded out to second (BBCBCFX)
6-5  1 --- 11  Robert lined out to left (CBX)
6-5  2 --- 11  Raleigh homered deep to left center (CBX)
                Castro,R pinch hitting for Varsho
 6-6  2 --- 12  Castro,R struck out (BCSS)

**************  Top of the 9th inning, Auk batting
                Siri now playing left field
                Chapman,A now pitching
6-6  0 --- 22  Carroll grounded out to the mound (BFBFX)
 6-6  1 --- 12  Ozuna struck out (CBSS)
6-6  2 --- 22  Conforto grounded out to first (CBFFBX)
